High Defense Healer Help

Jan 10, 2010 14:55:54 I am considering my options for my next new character, and I am looking for something with high ac and defenses along with alot of healing. BTW, the character is going to be a pacifist for the most part who will strike an enemy in some instances, but will go out of his way to avoid killing anyone or anything.

So far my plan is lending towards a Paladin multiclass Cleric

Paladin Human from Akanul (Kelemvor as Diety)
Level 1
S-11 C-16 D-12 I-8 W-16(18) C-11 (Wisdom as human +2 racial bonus)

HP 31

feats
Initate of the Faith (to Pickup Heal Word and ability to get Pacifist Healer)
Pacifist Healer (assuming I am correct that this would apply to lay on hands)

skills
Heal
Diplomacy
Endurance
Insight

Using Plate armor and heavy shield
AC 20
Fort 15
Rflx 15
Will 15

With 18 Wisdom I'd have 4 lay on hands per day at surge +1d6 +0
plus one healing word per day at surge +1d6

By 4th level I'd hope to have

Black Iron Plate +1
Amulet of Health +2

S-11 C-17 D-12 I-8 W-19 C-11 (4th level bump to con and Wis)

HP-55

AC 23

Unknown for 4th level feat, still open for ideas

powers (mostly undecided except for those listed)
Righteous Smite (hit an easy target and all allies w/in 5 will get 9 temp HP)
Glorious Charge (charge in after others are in the fray and give allies w/in 2 a 6hp heal)
Faith Healing (allows other to use a healing surge)

so let me have it, what can I do to better the idea of high defenses and ability to do alot of healing

Jan 10, 2010 21:12:24 Honestly, if you want to do a lot of healing, and be a pacifist, you'd be better off being a cleric, using the pacifist powers/feats and blowing several feats on heavy armor profs and shield prof (4 feats total for Plate and Heavy Shield). You'll get a hell of a lot more healing out of Cleric than you would being a Paladin/MC cleric. There's just a higher feat tax.

Pacifist Healer seems to only apply to powers that let the target spend a healing surge. Lay on Hands makes you spend the surge, and the target heals their surge value. It sounds like it would give you, as the person spending the surge, the extra healing.

Jan 11, 2010 7:39:49 It wouldn't even do that because the bonus goes to the target spending the surge. I suppose you could cheese it and say you're using LOH on yourself and then it would kick in, and by strict RAW that would work. It seems to be against the spirit of the feat though.
