This is Phredd, my 3rd level char.  I'm looking for critique, rather than wholesale dismemberment.  I went with a triple headed flail specialist specifically because its not a typical build.

Seems like you'd want to wait on Dragging Flail or at least take Spinning Sweep as your L1 encounter.  Knockdown Assault isn't my idea of a great at will, and it's not really worth spending a feat to make it slightly better.

How about some hints on the strategies you intend to use and some of the feats powers or items you hope/plan to take so we can tell what the intent is. Right now it looks like a normal fighter to me at level 3, It's hard to tell where you're going without being told though.

Ok, some replies:

I have knockdown as a 3rd at-will, and combine it regularly with "I'm Not Done Yet" to give it 1W if I need.  It gives me some fun controllerish options:  charge, do a knockdown assault, knock it prone and push one away, then action point and hit with lunging strike.  He's down, marked, probably bloodied,  and cant do anything but stand.

Eventually, I'll get a relentless weapon, and probly train out of knockdown, but its a nice combo for now.

the long term goal is being a solid defender.  My background is as a retired Cormyrian soldier who took up adventuring after mustering out.  he's older than most adventurers (40), and a master of an unusual weapon.

Most flail attacks area little less damaging,  but do things like immobilize, knock prone, or slow, so I have some soft controls.

My plan is to be solidly defenderish, but leaning a little controllerish with the soft status effects, and a little strikerish with the higher damage.

Its probably a little early yet to be thinking on it, but I'm looking at possible paragon paths as well. Kensei, Adroit Explorer, Dreadnought, and Pit Fighter all look useful.
