| #1gdewanOct 08, 2009 11:47:32 | I just updated to the october character builder and a feat my Invoker took (Reaper's Touch but my character is a Dwarf, not a Shader-Kai) is now causing a problem. When I first heard the Shader-Kai requirement might get added to it, I was going to retrain it out first chance I got, but unfortunately, have not had a chance to play him often enough to get him leveled. Nowhere in the character creation guide does it say what to do when your formerly legal character is now illegal. |
| #2melosOct 08, 2009 12:06:17 | In the RPGA penalty guidelines it says that the procedure for an illegal character is to correct the character so it is legal. |
| #3Dragon9Oct 08, 2009 16:46:02 | This is correct. You can't play with an lllegal character, so you have to go ahead and change it. Otherwise it would be a wierd conundrum of: you can't play it because it's illegal, but you need to leval to swap the feat and make it legal. |
| #4sicon_ninjaNov 17, 2009 15:29:51 | What about items that are now illegal? Monk Unarmed Strike taken as a magic item bundle, and Monk Unarmed Strike purchased with gold? What are the RPGA rules for those? |
| #5Dragon9Nov 18, 2009 10:44:25 | Items are a corner case since an illegal item doesn't really make a character illegal/render them unplayable (IOW, youjust don't use the item). In the past the admins have discussed it and made a ruling on it, but that takes a little patience as it's not instantaneous. ![]() I don't see why you couldn't use a Transfer Enchantment ritual to move the enchantment to an appropriate item if you want to get it useable as soon as possible. Although since there are no more weapon attacks for the Monk, take that into account as well (the whole weapon as implement rules and what parts of the enchantmnet count towards implement attacks). |

| #7Dragon9Nov 21, 2009 0:55:53 | That's debatable. Nothing in the text explicitly allows you to ignore the weapon as implement rules. It only eludes to which "powers you can apply to the power." The weapon as implement rules do not allow you to apply a weapon power to an implement attack, so by choosing to use a weapon as your implement your choice affects what powers can be applied to the attack being used. |
