Because there are quite a number of changes. actually, the new book shouldn't be out until tomorrow, so if you got it somewhere, it looks like they violated the street date. depending on exactly how you interpret the rules, you may not have to (or be able to) retrain until the EPG is made a valid player resource. when and if you are allowed to retrain, "you can retrain out any feats, powers, or skills – not just one of your choice." (from the CCG v1.8) you can also retrain a class feature: "Class Features: When you would normally make a retrain choice, you can instead choose to take a class feature retrain. When you retrain for a new class feature (and only for a class feature), you are able to retrain up to 2 powers and 2 feats with the class feature retrain. Each character is only allowed one class feature retrain. If you choose to retrain in this manner, make a note of it on your adventure log." you cannot "retrain" ability scores, race, items purchased, etc. i do not condone cheating, and think that you should absolutely stick to the race, ability scores, etc. that you've already chosen, but the truth is that if you choose to change them around, the only people who likely really know are the people that you regularly play with. that being said, i again urge you to stick to those things that you cannot change. as it stands, the EPG is not a valid player resource, so by one interpretation you would not have to or be able to retrain until it is on that list. the other interpretation is that since you had "access" to the playtest class, and that is now updated in the EPG, you can and must retrain as soon as the book is published (again, technically tomorrow). in the highly unlikely event that the EPG is not included in the list of valid player resources, well... i'm not sure what would happen then. we will likely see the new version of the CCG drop in the next day or two, to actually coincide with the release of the EPG. |
