#1 tyen0 May 16, 2010 19:54:08	Please forgive this simple newbie question, but I have spent a lot of time searching (and getting distracted reading interesting posts.) Let's say the DM gives us gold during the campaign, such as a payment up front from an NPC for taking on a task.  And then we loot some gold from some defeated foes. Then, when the adventure is over we are given a set amount of gold as part of the loot bundle ( e.g. 100 or 175 if we take no magic item). Am I supposed to erase the gold from my character sheet that I added and replace it with the 100 or 175 adventure reward?  or is that gold added to what we were paid or found during the adventure?

The former, yep -- the gold you're awarded at the end (generally 100 or 175 for 1-4 adventures) is the total you found over the course of the adventure.
#3 kenobi65 May 16, 2010 23:54:51	Thanlis is, essentially, correct.  Any gold which you pick up over the course of the adventure (from upfront payment, looting opponents, etc.) is already pre-figured into the final GP reward at the end of the adventure.  In short, there is *no way* to get more gold than the "cap" at the end of the adventure. So, you really don't need to keep track of what you pick up over the course of the adventure, though you do need to keep track of anything you spend -- if you spend 10 gold pieces on buying drinks to gather information, and get a total reward of 100 gold at the end, you only receive a net of 90 gold.
