so, now that the revenant article is out and will more than likely be legal once the issue is compiled, what are your ideas for revenant PCs?

Naturally the Spellscarred Warforged Soul Revenant Dhamphyr Bard, he'll always sing the blues about how bad his life has turned out, and how crappy his second life is.

And since it seems like it would be legal, maybe a Kobold! Revenant Warlock.

if my spellscarred warforged dhampyr fighter ever dies, i now know what he's coming back as...

and what's more, it makes some kind of messed-up sense with his storyline (look, i'm a real boy! ... well, sorta...)

i love the ghoul idea... just remeber to take the feat that gets rid of that pesky living keyword (i forget the feat name off hand).

( i should also say that on another level, i absolutely hate the idea of being able to play a "ghoul" in LFR. guess i'm funny that way but way to illustrate the absurdity.)

of course, that would negate taking the dhampyr bloodline, so... d'oh!

anyway, might i suggest Romero as an appropriate name? ;)

So what class should I use for my Ghoul? Rogue, Monk, Barbarian?

Monk...then you can rule out using claw fighting and get a bit more damage (feel free to still take the feat for flavor). In this way you get the sort of unarmed damage a ghoul truely needs :P.

Beyond that..the amazing amount of movement...sudden bursts of attacking someone just because you drew anothers blood? Rather awesome

i would think rogue would be fun.

those zombies/ ghouls can be pretty sneaky... just lying there dead, until someone goes up to them, then BAM!

so, i have been endeavoring to have at least one character of each race, and each class, and even each option within each class. when and if the revenant becomes legal, i currently have these class options that i do not yet have covered:

1 handed weapon fighter
2 handed weapon fighter
tempest fighter
archer ranger
beast master ranger
brutal scoundrel rogue
ruthless ruffian rogue
vestige pact warlock
summoning wizard
rageblood barbarian
prescience bard
guardian druid
invoker (or any sort)
shaman (of any kind)
cosmic sorcerer
storm sorcerer
wild sorcerer

i was thinking of going with either a beastmaster ranger or a shaman. the animal companion or spirit companion in either case would be a big raven, just to ruffle some feathers (pun totally intended )

as a long long long time fan of the crow (i.e. as the comics were coming out, the movie was ok, but, enh.), that is one of the most obvious choices.

the thought of a vestige pact warlock or storm sorcerer are pretty appealing as well.

any thoughts?

Note that a Warlock could have the crow as a familiar, as well.

oo, oo, oo!

how's about an adventuring company! it could be called something like "Strange Bedfellows."

requirements: must be of good alignment; must either be a revenant or worship kelemvor (or both); may not refuse to adventure with another based on their religion or race.

Named Eric D. Raven!

my favorite bit in the article is the example names... Rook for males and Raven for females.

made me giggle.

What's up with you and the Gnolls all the time?

Are you a furry?

As a matter of fact, I am. *grins, showing lots of sharp teeth* Is this a problem for you?

As far as races go, Gnolls and Shifters are my mainstays, dragonborn and kobolds secondary, and Minotaurs last, for me. (Although I'm considering a druid/warpriest who forever stays in beast-form...)

I suspect that I will be making a Revenant (warforged soul) Monk. I have already made (but not played) a warforged monk, and I can have all the same fun with the character, plus a +2 to primary attribute, with this alternate build.

Personally I'm going to wait untill the PHB III comes out because I'm just not thrilled about the Monk build in the play test. I just thought of another interesting idea REVENANT SHADAR KAI SWORDMAGE :evillaugh.
