Following are my rules, and a link to the pregens in both dnd4e and pdf formats. As a side note, I would be more than willing to have feedback on any of them, as some classes I have trouble with, having not gotten much play, or developed a personal blind spot in regards to them. I am impressed by the breadth. My only high-level comment is that the selections might be more appealing to new players if they used iconic races for iconic rolls. For example, cleric is heavy on Kalashtar, one of my least favorite races (and least iconic and least familiar to new players and least fitting for the Realms). Another example is the use of all the half-orcs for rangers. Elf is iconic and fitting for the archers, etc. For Warlock, I would probably go with Eladrin Fey, Tiefling (despite no Con bump, Dwarf/Gnoll is fun) Infernal, Drow Darklock, and Human Vestige. (I like half-elf for introductory Star). The "builds" of Scourge and Deceptive are sort of weird for Warlocks, not really fitting the pacts well, so I would go by actual paths for clarity. I might skip Vestige entirely for new players, though. Anyway, minor stuff. What you have is pretty amazing! |

I chose Kalashtar for the non-iconic Cleric builds, actually. If you want a fighting cleric, that wound up as the Longtooth Shifter, IIRC. And the Half-Orcs for Rangers was the stat setup. I am lazy, and don't play many Rangers. I also get burned out on too much of the iconic stuff. On the Warlocks, I was doing my builds on class definitions, which for most classes is also the feature set. Warlocks don't have a good set of definitions when combined with the actual features, as you mentioned. I am also not a great fan of most Warlock builds, and still haven't gotten to play my half-elf warlock with Accursed Coordination yet... And this was a lot easier than one of my earlier attempts, which wwas to build all the optimal race/class combinations. Got boring real fast, with all the Str/Con races for Fighter builds.... Oh, and other than Darklock, Warlock builds are hard to be effective with. I recently had to put the brakes on one of the local players, who has a Darklock build, who had some issues with another player's Feylock build as being ineffective. That, and the Pact boon that generates temp hit points, but can't stack them, and only generates 1 at first level. Talk about a worthless Pact boon... I forgot to mention one of my rules above, and that is that, for the most part, when you make pregens, they should also meet the "Would I be willing to play one?" test. Make them so that you would be willing to actually pull one of them out and play it yourself, if you needed to. Heh. I am now playing at least one PC that was inspired by the pregen building project. I now have an Elf Watcher Spirit Shaman. It was amusing how much synergy there is between him, the high to-hit of the fighter and paladin, and the cleric's defense debuffer. Once we got rolling, we had combat advantage against one of the bad guys for most of the encounter. It also helped the Paladin get rid of a bad flanking position he wound up in, being stuck in water at one point. |

The feat from the CB says "+1 to attack rolls of attacks you grant." While the full text of the feat is "When an ally makes an attack granted by one of your Warlord powers to attack an enemy adjacent to you, that ally gains a +1 bonus to the attack roll." The bold and underlined part is what I have seen people ignore since their character sheet fails to include that piece of information for them. As part of your "Make sure it's complete", I would definitely think you would want to make sure all of the feats are using the full wording and not the abbreviated wording used in the builder. Or make sure the player actually looks up the feat or power in the appropriate book to see the full wording. All in all, it's a nice thing. I might print some of these out to have in case we get any new players showing up on Sunday. |
