| #1cmoneillDec 16, 2008 21:44:31 | So I am looking at charging bonus' and I was wondering if I was missing anything. brutal scoundral Backstabber feat: d8 not d6 Doubleblade feat Opportunity Gore [Minotaur] Prerequisites: Minotaur, goring charge racial power Benefit: Whenever you make an opportunity attack, instead of making the usual melee basic attack, you can use your goring charge racial power without expending it, even if you have used it this encounter. When you do so, you ignore the power's requirement and action type, and your target is the creature that triggered the opportunity attack. Vangaurd Blade: Property +d8 on charge Horned Helm: Property +d6 on charge Mount feat: Dire Boar : +5 damage push 2 squares and knock prone + 9 vs ac D10 + 9 damage Feat: Suprising charge : +1(w) damage when you hit a target that is granting you combat advantage So when my character is fully loaded he will deal 3d8+d6+6 (2d8+6 backstab) and if the mount hits +d10+9 min damage-20 max damage-77 I think I can do this at lvl 8 any imput or ideas would help! Thank you in advance for your comments. Christopher M O'Neill |
| #2Dragon9Dec 16, 2008 22:08:59 | Where is the doubleblade feat from? |
| #3cmoneillDec 16, 2008 22:51:49 | its a non rogue weapon lets you use a +3 proficiency D8/D8 weapon that is a light and heavy blade defensive and off hand oh and it is a double sword. |
| #4Dragon9Dec 17, 2008 7:44:58 | Of course. If you'll have enough money for all the items + mount by 8th is questionable, as well as whether you'll find the items in bundles. But otherwise, it all looks legit. Not sure why you have Opportunity Gore in there though since that doesn't have anything to do with charging. |
| #5Madfox11Dec 17, 2008 10:31:14 | Also note that the damage output is not heigher then a typical encounter power, but without anything special happening and with a for the rogue secondary stat. I know that you can probably pull it off slightly more then a typical encounter power, but I doubt it is going to disbalance the game (especially since mounts are likely not going to be particular effective in the majority of adventures). |
| #6howie23Dec 17, 2008 10:37:39 | So when my character is fully loaded he will deal 3d8+d6+6 (2d8+6 backstab) and if the mount hits +d10+9 min damage-20 max damage-77 I'm missing how you're getting both the character and mount to attack. It's one or the other, isn't it? David |
| #7Dragon9Dec 17, 2008 10:38:37 | The Dire Boar has an ability to do damage on a charge if you have the mounted combat feat. |
| #8Jay_Ibero_911Dec 17, 2008 14:20:03 | Won't be moving very fast on that mount...Dire Boar normal carrying capacity is 237 lbs.....minimum weight for a bare naked Minotaur is 320 lbs...have fun with your 2 square speed while mounted. |

| #10Jay_Ibero_911Dec 17, 2008 15:10:11 | You can Great Leap everywhere. YOU can...but that doesn't help the mount... |
| #11telvin3dDec 17, 2008 15:44:00 | I have this vision of a character with a huge strength bouncing around the battlefield carrying a mount, getting onto the mount to use the mount abilities, then getting off and flinging the mount to the next location. |

| #13Dragon9Dec 18, 2008 7:54:11 | In communist Russia, mount rides you! |
| #14Jay_Ibero_911Dec 18, 2008 13:07:20 | The boar rides on the minotaur's back.... I realize this is probably in jest...but just in case...things can only ride things of at least large size and one size larger than the rider. Also...with great leap being an encounter power I don't see it helping too much even if it did work...and while it doesn't list a weight, I think it's not too crazy to assume the large sized dire boar weighs more than 400lb's which would put it outside the carrying capacity of even a 20 str minotaur... |

Yes it was a joke, but I like dragon9's response better than yours =P again a joke... well not really, but yeah ok =P If I were a 20 strength minotaur I'd be sure to be an eternal defender, so I'd have around 30 strength at 30, and I'd be sure to carry around a 400 pound boar under my arm with my then 600 pound normal carry capacity =P I'd name him Miss Piggy. Or boo. |
| #16Dragon9Dec 19, 2008 8:49:54 | Improvised throwing weapon? Does that count as a charge for the boar? |
| #17cmoneillDec 21, 2008 23:11:03 | So I am going to need the muleback harness that adds 5 to my strength for carrying purposes and carry my pig...or just wait and ride a rhino?? |
| #18Jay_Ibero_911Dec 22, 2008 7:51:15 | So I am going to need the muleback harness that adds 5 to my strength for carrying purposes and carry my pig...or just wait and ride a rhino?? While a rhino is a little stronger than a dire boar, it's still not strong enough to not be slowed. 262 pounds as opposed to 237. You could get a Saddle of Strength for the mount, increasing it's capacity by 50%, putting a rhino light load at 393 pounds...leaving 73 pounds of equipment you can carry as the scrawniest possible minotaur...plus that leaves the mount unable to carry barding, nevermind the impenetrable barding item necessary to give mounts any hope of survival... |
| #19cmoneillDec 27, 2008 0:21:56 | wow thats pretty practical, I don't remember any weight issued for the bardings at this time. I have an adventures kit, a double blade, shurikens and leather armor at this point. I know I'll be fine on the rhino. Thanks jay! |

I thought that was the low end for their average weight, not their minimum. I'm having similar problems on my gnoll, and early on in the system had noticed this glaring problem when my minotaur for a home game was looking for a mount (yes, even elder red dragons and earth titans are too puny to carry a minotaur). Originally we solved this problem with the self propelled wagon in the PHB, you know the one in the PHB that requires no animals to pull it, but has a fixed movement speed and great carrying capacity. With the AV rules becoming official for LFR I figured I'd have to follow them and that means I have to get mounts and a vehicle like a chariot since vehicles specify a quantity of creatures rather than a specific weight limit, the same goes for the figurine of wondrous power-elephant. |
