| #1ferol_debtor_of_tormMay 08, 2008 18:53:14 | I was at a con recently and I heard someone mention that centaurs are not eligible for being raised from the dead. Is this true? When/where is it mentioned that centaurs only get one shot at life? |
| #2_metz_May 08, 2008 22:47:51 | I was at a con recently and I heard someone mention that centaurs are not eligible for being raised from the dead. Is this true? It isn't mentioned anywhere. Centaurs are humanoids (albeit monstrous) and can be raised just like any other character. Ignore the ramblings of idiots, the best thing to do is ASK them to show you where that ruling is, and that usually stops them talking such rubbish. |
| #3JohnduBoisMay 09, 2008 6:57:34 | It isn't mentioned anywhere. Centaurs are humanoids (albeit monstrous) and can be raised just like any other character. Centaurs can be *raised*, but not *reincarnated*... (check the LGCS under Reincarnate - humanoid and monstrous humanoid are not the same). |
| #4magebeastMay 09, 2008 12:41:25 | Centaurs can be *raised*, but not *reincarnated*... (check the LGCS under Reincarnate - humanoid and monstrous humanoid are not the same). There is nothing in the text of the spell requiring that reincarnate be cast only on humanoids. Nor is there anything in the LGCS requiring it. |
| #5kenobi65May 09, 2008 13:36:56 | There is nothing in the text of the spell requiring that reincarnate be cast only on humanoids. Nor is there anything in the LGCS requiring it. Err...there's this line in the spell description... For a humanoid creature, the new incarnation is determined using the following table. For nonhumanoid creatures, a similar table of creatures of the same type should be created. No such table has been created for nonhumanoids for LG. And, most importantly, there's this line in the LGCS (p. 17, spell clarifications)... Reincarnate may only be cast on humanoid PCs or cohorts. |
| #6Evil_MouseMay 09, 2008 14:31:16 | Err...there's this line in the spell description... Centuars are monstrouse humanoid it will work but you have a 1% chance to stay your current race. |
| #7JohnduBoisMay 09, 2008 15:11:49 | sCentuars are monstrouse humanoid it will work but you have a 1% chance to stay your current race. Humanoids and monstrous humanoids are not the same type. Per that line in the LGCS, only PCs and cohorts of the humanoid type may be reincarnated; monstrous humanoids may not.s |
| #8magebeastMay 10, 2008 0:00:34 | s Weird, I looked at the raise dead section but I missed that. |
| #9VamrocMay 10, 2008 20:45:22 | It's true and it's stupid a humanoid is defined a being having appendages resembling a man and a Monstrous Humanoid also falls under this description. But because a Monstrous Humanoid may have multiple arms or multiple heads and are generally seen a violation of the laws of nature druids will not perform the ritual no matter how noble that Monstrous Humanoid might have been |
| #10arvagorMay 11, 2008 1:15:16 | But because a Monstrous Humanoid may have multiple arms or multiple heads and are generally seen a violation of the laws of nature druids will not perform the ritual no matter how noble that Monstrous Humanoid might have been Huh??? Druids are not restricted (by the spell) from performing a reincarnate on monstrous humanoids. There is simply no defined set of options in the campaign for what a monstrous humanoid can come back as... |
| #11VamrocMay 11, 2008 9:48:49 |
Never said they're restricted I said they wouldn't do it because druids view Monsterous Humanoids as unnatural. |
| #12lightbladeMay 11, 2008 13:44:35 | I think you're confusing monsterous humanoids with Abberations. Monsterous humanoids have a place in the world: Sahuagin and Minotaurs both have established places in the world. Either of these races could conceivably have a druidic tradtion, as well. |
| #13timlagorMay 11, 2008 14:02:16 | It's not that the Druids won't do it; just that you won't be in the Campaign any more if they do. |
| #14KarmaInfernoMay 12, 2008 9:13:56 | That's not even including the druids that can BECOME monstrous humanoids via wild shape.![]() I miss Master of Many Forms... -karma |
