#1 Master_Vega Apr 10, 2009 16:22:00	So we've had at least two goes at the 101 organizations... why not a more character specific one? The rules: Prettymuch the same as the 101 Organizations threads, make up a character from the name and vague relation given at the bottom of the last participant's post. List the open information anyone can pick up about the character, then a small secret, then the (often dark) super-secret. If you feel like it, set DCs for information and/or interaction. Too keep this from becoming a soap opera set-up, be sure to add some (at least) subtle creepiness to characters. They don't all have to be evil, but I'm kinda imagining the town will have an eerie nature - be it the effects of the supernatural or simply deep-routed feuds and secrets only the residents truly understand. Anyhow, I'll start: Mark Peters - Owner of the Peters' General Store Mark Peters is a simple middle-aged business man on the surface. His cheery demeanor when speaking with customers shows that he is at least interested in helping them find what they need, but he seems a little too excited when new faces enter his shop. Of course, that's to be expected from a talkative shop owner in the middle of nowhere. Despite his out-going nature, Peters surprisingly is not prone to gossip. (Any information he knows about the locals will require an diplomacy vs. sense motive -to which the man has a +10 total modifier- check or perhaps a hefty tip.) Conversely the shopowner has the inexplicability to coax out of people in minutes what would often take years. Secret Peters' Firearm Sales Permit expired around six months ago, but he still sells guns. The last three times he was confronted about it, he convinced the agents that he would "get around to re-registering soon enough". (GM's note: This might be why one or two of the PCs are in the small town in the first place.) Most people remain quiet about Peters because he knows nearly all of their secrets. Super Secret Mark Peters is a low-level telepath who combines his silver tongue with the power to supernaturally manipulate visitors and long-time residents alike. His ambitions in testing his power spread beyond the town, but for now he is content with extorting its people without them even realizing. I hear Peters' has been watching James Cole like a hawk ever since Cole started dating his daughter...

His grades are nothing special, but he does well in history and music. He and his friends have formed a band they call The Potholes, for which he plays bass and edits the practice videos they post to YouChannel. James has a part-time job at Mama Gianna's Italian restaurant on Main St. He is saving up money to buy a car. SECRET James recently got in trouble with his job supervisor, Vinny. Last week, Vinny caught James rooting through the garbage in the alley behind the restaurant. Vinny promised that as long as it didn't happen again, he wouldn't need to tell anyone, but he did think it was strange. James' performance at school has also been going down lately; he's been caught sleeping in class as well as missing classes, and he's in danger of getting suspended. James' parents are getting worried about their son, but are hesitant to be too strict in disciplining him. TOP SECRET A week before getting in trouble with Vinny, James saw a rat-lizard thing in the kitchen. He chased it away, but it seemed kinda smart when it looked at him. How many lizards stand on their hind legs? And it was big: about two feet tall. Since then, James has been feeding it with scraps from the garbage, which it takes back into the sewer. James still can't figure out what it wanted with the kitchen knife. James doesn't have many friends outside the band, but he has been getting some more attention from Sasha Clarke.
