A basic Bugbear has BAB +2. If he takes 4 levels of Strong Hero this raises him to BAB +6. Is this sufficient to warrant an additional attack, or does the BAB need to come from classes only?

Since some monsters have had their HD advancement done as leveling up their racial/species class,
I would say the racial BAB counts.

It is listed / granted as BAB, not "+ToHit"

I agree with Backstabbist. If it's a BA then it counts towards multiple attacks. At the very least, it would be kind of cruel to a player to withhold those attacks on the basis that their monster attack bonus doesn't count.

I am going to have to disagree a bit.

In the Modern book which is still a 3.0 ruleset bugbears have a Slam attack which is a natural weapon. Natural weapons do not get iterative attacks from BAB, so his Slam would still be 1 per round (fuzzy rules) even when he gets 2 or more with a baseball bat. HOWEVER, you usually are supposed to get one attack with each natural weapon so a bugbear (having two fists) should get two slams a round anyway, both at the same attack bonus. 3.0 is kind of twitchy that way.

In 3.5 D&D they fixed it so they do not have a slam attack and get their attacks from weapons like most humanoids do which always get extra attacks from BAB. They also more clearly defined how natural attacks work and who gets what.

Of course BAB from racial hit dice does stack with those from class levels so in that I am in full agreement with the others.

Interesting - that at least explains to me why the Flesh Golem has two slam attacks at max attack bonus... And why the collossal monstrous spider only has a single +36 bite attack instead of +36/+31/+26/+21/+16/+11/+6/+1 bite attacks...
