Advice for D20 with a twist

Hello, I'm new here, thought I'd introduce myself and ask for some advice. --My apologies if something like this has been asked before...

My gaming group is getting a little tired of D&D nth edition, and I am thinking of something of a twist. I was going to start them out with a standard D&D 1st level adventure that goes through a dimensional portal and ends up in an alternate-history Earth.

This would be an Earth where the Soviet Union attacked the United States (Red Dawn style) in the 1980's. The USA is now engaged in a long guerrilla war of attrition.

At some point, American scientists unleashed a desperate biological warfare weapon-- in an attempt to find a way to regenerate wounded troops, they accidentally (shades of Umbrella Corporation and Resident Evil) unleash a chemical that causes the dead to rise.

So, we've got some D&D outcasts that stumble into a "Red Dawn"-style World War Three with "Resident Evil" Zombies.

My question is-- what books do I need for a D20 Adventure to pull this off? I don't know much about "generic D20" and I have D20 Modern but will I need anything else? Is there a D20 Zombie pack? I'll be charting new territory with this and my D&D crew...

Thanks in advance for any advice.

That sounds like a really cool setting!
You're going to need d20 Modern, d20 Apocalypse, and may I suggest Ultramodern Firearms and/or Weapon's Locker (because you're gonna need to arm them soviet zombies).

If you plan on continuing to post on the d20 Modern boards, may I suggest that you create an account here:

-and post there instead? This forum is getting closed in a few days.

Btw. About zombies, there's a book called the Zombie Survival Guide or something, I don't own it, but I've heard it has good stuff for anything related to zombies.
