I'm looking for rules for starship construction for a d20 future campaign I'm doing.

To what end?

As the GM you should have no trouble making up an appropriate ship or ship template to fit your needs.

However, if you just want to give the PCs the opportunity to customize ships, then the d20 future rules themselves includes information on how to upgrade basic vessels.

In general this involves

1) Buy the appropriate upgrade.
2) Spending a certain amount of time making a Craft (mechanical and/or electronic) check to properly install the upgrade.

It seems a bit primitive, considering that there does not seem to be a limit to the number of upgrades you can apply. Then again, relying on the common sense of the players and GM is probably a better safeguard against "broken" designs than any system of "design units" could ever be.

This is going to sound snarky, but I really don't intend it to be... forget the starship rules from d20 future. Use the starship rules from Star Wars Saga.

That should work fine with a few adjustments.

In SAGA you add either the ship's armour or the pilot's heroic level to defense (whichever is better). Substitute "heroic level" for "class bonus to defense" could work, though the d20Modern bonus tends to fall somewhere between 1/2 and 3/4 of the character's level.

Not necessarilly a bad thing, though, as player character pilots will have some direct influence over lighter craft and less with capital ships.

I was working on some, but I haven't gotten past the hull.
Its map based so it will trump most of what is out there if I ever finish it.
