Hey Atanakar,

These look awesome! I assume you've made these yourself. Any chance you could divulge some of your galaxy map making secrets?

What software are you using? I'd love to get a similar a map made for my Elysium Nebula campaign setting (I do have one, sort of close) but not quite as 'clean'.

EN is, as you can see, a binary star system, so the map could be quite complicated.

Yellow orbits for Solaris, Orange orbits for Acheron, green-dashed lines for planets that do an unlikely figure 8 orbit and red lines for those far reaching planetoids that go on a wide orbit around both suns.

I concur. These maps are fabulous and deserve recognition, even if I've got nothing more to contribute. Tips on map creation would be great.

Thanks guys!

I use Illustrator by Adobe. Its a vectorial drawing application. It uses layers much like its brother application photoshop. Unlike pixel drawing, vectorial drawing always gives crisp lines. When you save/export use «.png» or «.pdf». These formats are perfect to convey vectorial drawing. You also get to choose the resolution, go for 150 to 300 dpi.

Vectorial is also great because you can scale any part of the drawing without lose of resolution.

I have a background in architectural drawing and familiarity with Autocad. Its problably why the map came out so «technical» looking. ;)

would you be willing to part with a copy of the Illustrator .ai file for the first one? I'd love to use an edited version of that map for my game - unique setting and whatnot means I'd have to edit that quite a lot, and it'd be easier to edit the origonal .ai than try and butcher it in Photoshop. I'd keep them within my own game, of course, and stick your name/sig on it someplace if youd like.
