PL..........5.......6.......7.......8.......9.......10 PDA......-8......-3......+2......7......12.......17 Laptop..-1.......4.......9.......14.....19.......24 Desktop..0.......5.......10......15.....20......25 Server....5.......11......17.....23.....29......35 Mainframe.10....20.....30......40....50.......60 The chart shows equipment bonuses according to computer type and PL. the bonuses are given to computer use checks and to Craft (Visual arts (computer graphics)) (think Hollywood special effects) 1/2 the bonus is added to the systems security DC for a starship's main computer the DC is 10 + 3/4 bonus instead. PDA DC 16 Small enough to fit in your hand, good for hiding legally questionable programs. (the computer card is a PL 6 pda upgraded 3 times) Laptop DC 21 Portable, but lagging a little for the sake of size in power. (the notebook in the core rules was upgraded once) Desktop DC 22 A bit clunky but dependable. Server DC 30 This heavy machine is as big as a closet. (5' by 10') Ultralight to mediumweight starships use these for main computers. Mainframe DC 40 These monsters take up whole rooms. (50' by 50') Heavy and larger starships sport these monsters in their main computer rooms. High security organizations such as CIA and FBI have prototypes (at PL +1)
#2 Skrittiblak Mar 31, 2008 17:45:00	Seems to me that a PL 10 mainframe would not exist. Why would you build a computer the size of a room when the 'logical units' (the current equivalent would be a transistor) could be a lighter than air nanite and a computer could be a highly sophisticated 'fog'. I don't know why that would be useful... but it sounds much more high tech!
#3 doomsought Apr 01, 2008 16:50:53	It has a really big bonus! its not all solid transistors, there is cooling systems and maintenance condors too. At pl 10 there will also be bigger displays and control surfaces to take up the space. Think 20" X 10' X 6' holographic display screen. Also, it helps the Tech guys intimated the rest of their crew. "your ignorance is my job security."

When Microsoft hit the galaxy, it dominated, and now contains every computer using species. the current president is a Fraal and T'sa stands as vice president. Microsoft Employee allegiances are Microsoft and law. The lawyers and Higher ups often also have an allegiance to evil.

But then you would be in danger of inhaling your computer core. :D
