| #6Cpt_MichaMay 06, 2009 11:00:19 | Cpt_Micha here. Soon to be running a tweaked 4e for a Modern Fantasy, and soon a Force Deleted and Starship deleted Saga, for a Modern d20 campaign. Also running a 4e Paragon Level Campaign. Wargames owned: Warhammer 40k: Armies, Imperial Guard, Necrons and Tau Warhammer Fantasy: will soon own Lizardmen Other tabletop games Dark heresy Hunter, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplaying Favorite Boardgame: If I had to pick one.. Risk, or Star Wars Risk.. I like em both alot. What I hate about the gaming industry these days: Japan. They need to actually come out of their insular tradition clinging shell already. No more pretty boy heroes. No more random encounters, advance your damn control schemes NOW already. and actually *gasp* do something with character development. |

| #9penchantMay 06, 2009 19:22:54 | I am Penchant. I have run AD&D, AD&D 2e, D&D 3.0, 3.5 and 4.0. Plus D20 Modern in a variety of scenarios from basic modern, super heroes, future and mutants. I have run Rifts, Ninjas and Superspies and TMNT: After the Bomb I have run Marvel Super Heroes, the 1980's game and still love the sheer simplicity of it. I have played in most of those plus Shadowrun 2e and 4e, Cyberpunk (longest living character was a coward who hid in the john at the start of every combat) and Mechwarrior. I have played a variety of World of Darkness games, but like Werewolf and Mage the best. I love discussions but hate "yes it is, no it isn't" arguments. I will only go around that mulberry bush once with any given person. I am currently ginning up my D&D game world for a Pathfinder (Beta) game that will hopefully start in a week or two. My modern game is literally stuck with the players too scared to go forward. It's not my fault that they got locked in the basement of a mortuary with the only exit being a gateway to hell... OK, it is my fault. ![]() |

| #11trappedsliderMay 06, 2009 20:22:12 | I am the one named Trappedslider Personal savior of the d20 modern forum go between for the d20 modern forums and CM Heroes Fanboy as well runner of last year's uncon contest and will also be doing the same thing again this year. |
| #12narukagamiMay 06, 2009 20:32:36 | Narukagami is a video game reference from the game Bushido Blade 2. The two factions of the game are called "Shainto" and "Narukagami," and since I always played that faction I sort of adopted the name for various purposes. Currently running 0 campaigns: College is a *****. But once I get out of school for the summer my hometown group will be getting back into all sorts of gaming. Including a 4e D&D game, a 3e OA game, L5R, d20 Modern, and some Call of Cthulhu. Favorite Board Games: Arkham Horror, AFMBE, Munchkin (technically a card game), and good old Battlemasters. Favorite miniature games: L5R Clan War (plays almost exactly the same as WHFB!), was into Warhammer Fantasy and 40k but its too expensive, and I'm dropping GW games since they announced ANOTHER price hike for their already vastly overpriced minis. And, Heavy Gear! What I hate most about the gaming industry these days: Corporate greed. Its killing the hobby. Also "system elitism." I remember back before the d20 system came out it was a mark of the true gamer to play or have at least tried a multitude of games and systems, these days everyone hides in their single-system camps and shuns the plethora of great games around them. I'm not blaming the d20 System or WotC for this, it just seems to have both come around the same time. |

Favorite Board/Card Games: -RISK -Attack! -Settlers of Catan -Monopoly -War on Terror -(Failure to say) Mao Favorite miniature games: -Warhammer 40k, Imperial Guard army heavy on tanks What I hate most about the gaming industry these days: -Games that favour graphics and physics but compensate by lessoning strategy, game length, and plot. (Not that these things are mutually exclusive, but...) -Games that are purely designed to be addictive but that after playing for hours and hours you wonder why you did, or games that involve needlessly time-consuming boring aspects. -Games with monthly fees. | #19Waylan_WolfMay 08, 2009 7:58:20 | Waylan Wolf was the name of a 2nd edition AD&D bard that I rolled up... it was a commentary on his singing ability. I then used that name for my Ultima Online character for 7 years Currently running 0 campaigns(2 on hold due to real life taking priority): Starwars Saga Edition Clone Wars campaign D20 Modern/Future Superhero campaign Have run in the past: Dungeons and Dragons(Basic, AD&D, 2nd ed, 3.x and 4th), Star Frontiers, Chaosium's ElfQuest, Alternity, MechWarrior, Starwars(d6, RCR, and Saga), D20 Modern(Past and Future too) Favorite Board Games: Axis & Allies Broadsides & Boarding Parties Favorite miniature games: I only use minis as RPG aides... unless you count Classic BattleTech as a minis game. What I hate most about the gaming industry these days: The business model that depends on re-writing the game mechanics of a system every 5 years. |

| #25rhialtoMay 10, 2009 10:19:11 | k, I'm here. Currently working on a d20 revision (codenamed d20a). I like D&D, Warhammer, GURPS, TORG (anyone even remember that anymore?), and tic-tac-toe. |
| #26Master_VegaMay 10, 2009 11:03:03 | A revision, hm? I guess that makes two of us. Perhaps we should compare notes sometime. |

Could just be a lot of beavers... those little fellas can work together too, you know! |
| #28TheRealOrionMay 10, 2009 13:22:08 | The Briliant Gameologists crowd is working on a revision they call the "Rebalance." It doesn't follow game-design principles that appeal to me, but they are putting a lot of interesting work into it. I also suspect it will be no more balanced or spug-proof than 3.5e, but that's just my opinion. What's I'd really like is a Big Book of House Rules that I could just leaf through and say "Hey look, a whole different way to do spell-casting. Cool." Basically, a big-ass, expanded Unearthed Arcana. That'd be fun. |

| #31rhialtoMay 10, 2009 18:17:11 | d20a... Have you looked at True20 by Green Ronin? I've seen the quickstart rules preview that's been put around, and while it is interesting stuff, it's not really the direction I want to go. Maybe the full book has stuff that would interest me, but I don't have the $ to spend. |
| #32TheRealOrionMay 10, 2009 18:53:13 | I would love to play True20 with a group that's already using it, to see how it feels. I love the idea of trimming the useless, extraneous math from d20, although I'm also somewhat wary of any gaming system that claims to be universally applicable to any genre. But like I say, I'd love to give it a try. |
| #33narukagamiMay 10, 2009 19:04:45 | True20 trimmed all the useless, extraneous math from d20, to make room for tons of new useless, extraneous math. |
| #34RagitsuMay 10, 2009 20:58:09 | Also "system elitism." I remember back before the d20 system came out it was a mark of the true gamer to play or have at least tried a multitude of games and systems, these days everyone hides in their single-system camps and shuns the plethora of great games around them. I'm not blaming the d20 System or WotC for this, it just seems to have both come around the same time. I couldn't agree more. No one system can do everything, so that's why I branched out. |
| #35backstabbistMay 10, 2009 22:03:47 | I remember back before the d20 system came out it was a mark of the true gamer to play or have at least tried a multitude of games and systems Isnt that the reason so many of us can put Toon & Paranoia on their resume? Nothing like mixing Toon into our LEG Pheonix Command group.... slide rules meet pie in face |

| #37nobodez_hereMay 11, 2009 0:11:26 | Hello, i'm nobodez_here. I used to be just nobodez, but Gleemax killed me. So, like Locke, I came back to the island after my death. I play mostly d20. I used to plat Hero System, but that group died. I used to play old style White Wolf, but I graduated high school seven years ago. I played AD&D once, but realized that 3rd edition really was an improvement and moved on. I've played a miniatures game once. It didn't go too well. I like RPGs too much. Instead, I play small unit tactics with my fellow players and ruin my GMs carefully planned plot with explosives, ATVs, and water tanks. I play in a D&D v.3.5 Age of Worms game, a D&D 4e FR game, and a d20 Modern game where the GM doesn't fully grasp that we don't need to take camels into the desert when we have ATVs, with water tanks, and explosives. My favorite board game is Catan. Playing a three player game of settlers with the 6-player expansion and expanded victory point options is lots of fun. I also play RISK. I tend to borrow rules when I'm playing. If I need vehicle combat rules for my Eberron game, I could use the janky rules from Arms and Equipment Guide and Stormwrack, or I could just grab Cyber-Dave's perfected vehicle combat rules. If I need rules for thirst in a desert, I'll grab Sandstorm, even if I'm playing d20 Modern or even 4e. I prefer the d20 system, no because it's the best, but because all my friends that I play with know it. I'll use the GURPS splat books for setting, or the Serenity RPG for fluff, but I'll use the same old d20 system because my players know it, and so do I. My preferred party role is logistics. I understand the Wealth System. I lurk, and I can create fun characters. |

|
| #41tharpeMay 11, 2009 15:27:53 | I don't participate much at all, but I'm pretty up-to-date on the boards. I don't have an RPG group since I moved to CO this year, but games I have run in the past have been D&D (basic, expert, AD&D, 2nd ed., 3.5) Gamma World (old school 1st ed.), Battletech and, most recently, D20 Modern and Future. I don't do boardgames. What I hate most about the gaming industry today: Pen & paper games have not, nor ever will be, a huge money-maker and they should stop treating D&D like the cash cow it can't be. Stop dumbing down my favorite game! |
| #42atomic_dogMay 11, 2009 17:34:34 | Miaow miaow, I've been a member of these boards since I started playing DnD about 8 years ago, but you can probably count my posts on your fingers. Yeah I'm pretty much a lurker. I've played 3.0 DnD, ran a brief but immensely entertaining d20 Star Wars game and after eagerly snatching up d20 Modern when it hit the shelves I've used it as a base for three or four campaigns. I haven't played anything for a long time (probs 4 or 5 years now) but I've never stopped writing and designing settings, it's the only use I have left for my books when I haven't got players or a group to game with! My latest idea that I want to develop, d20 Action Journalism! Getting down and dirty in the thick of the world's stories, dodging bullets and explosions and making attack rolls to snap those crucial front-page shots! Lots of diplomacy and fast-talking bluffs, and a different emphasis in combat encounters where the PC is the spectator and must get in the firing line to capture the story. |

| #44atomic_dogMay 11, 2009 17:55:41 | You know, that actually sounds really neat... Thanks dude! I was on my way to work last week, and had just finished reading a TV correspondent's autobiography, and in the words of Ray from Ghostbusters, it just popped in there! I reckon it would be super cool if I could come up with some alternate rules for taking photos, and modify the experience. Rather like the the Star Law setting from Broken McFuture, I was thinking of halving the XP you receive from fighting and stuff, and giving a significant XP bonus for getting the 'scoop'. You'd get more XP for taking better or more intense photos, like weaving through a firefight between rival militias to take action shots of the shooting, or staking out a secret meet between a corrupt politician and an influential gangster. You'd get Wealth bonuses from selling your photos to publications. Its all just ideas for now though, and they never seem to turn out quite as neat when I try to execute them. I think I'm going to get right into this one though, I'll try and post some of it when I get cracking on it. Who knows, maybe I'll even find some players for this one! |
