--A plaster statue of an angel sits at the end of the hall. It is badly chipped and one of the wings has fallen off. The distressed expression on its lovely face seems to be pleading for aid.
--On the shelf there are a number of glass jars, filled with a murky greenish-brown water. Suspended by strings within the jars are small stones that seem to quiver and vibrate as you pass by.
--The wall of the lodge has a large moose head situated upon a plaque. It's glass eyes, set deep within its matted and peeling fur, peer vacently at the empty wall opposite.
--The bed itself is sunken and old. The massive frame swollowing the small, dusty matress. A thin layer of age almost covers up the multitude of ancient stains that cover the fabric.
--The statue depicts a martyr slain by enemy arrows. Water has been made to flow from each of a dozen arrow wounds on the statue into a collecting basin. The face of the statue is serene and gazes upwards.
--The table is covered with a great number of plates and dishes. What was once a feast has not weathered time well, however. A few dusty bones and thin, papery skins are all that remain upon the dishes.
--An old, victorian doll sits upon the chair. Its face grins blindly and its arms have been left outstretched to await the hug of a young girl who never returned to give it.
--A small wooden doll rests on the desk. It depicts a wirey African tribesman, ready for battle and complete with a skin sheild and a bone spear. The thick mane of bristly hair extends wildly and regally out while the statue's lips curl to a wicked grimace.
--The small cabinet seems to contain a brief history of medicine. There are pithing needles, fleems, cauderizing brands, bonesaws, jars containing embalmed leeches and tapeworms, and less identifiable bits of ancient metal.
While there are several thousand creepy events, sometimes creepiness can be condensed into an object. One that may or may not actually do anything, but oozes with an unnatural aura or simply a vibe of not-rightness.

even without being chipped or broken i have seen some creepy angel statues. its like some one put the most creepy facial expressions on them they could think of.
Dry and rotting bandages cover the figure and its faceless head stares out from the case with empty dusty eye sockets.
A collection of children’s wooden blocks with letters embossed upon the sides in bright colours, scattered seemingly at random but on closer inspection spells out the word DEAD.
On a well dressed and immaculately clean dinner table sits an ornate silver serving platter with a lid, on removing the lid the platter seems to bear nothing but a metallic smelling red/brown smear and a couple of dead maggots.
A yellowed sepia photograph in an ornate oval frame hangs on the wall, it bears a picture of a family standing straight and orderly in that very room wearing neat and formal Victorian clothing, every family members face is contorted into a hideous screaming visage.
In each corner of the room is a pile consisting of precicely 119 dead flies

Man, that reminds me of a movie where the doll had a charm or talisman to keep it from animating and killing everyone around it. At the end of the movie the main character threw it into a gas oven to destroy it, and burned it to ashes. Unfortunately for her all that did was release the evil spirit in the doll and when she opened the oven to check it possessed her. Try as I might, I can't remember the name of the movie or the actress that was the main character.
However, I will always remember the last scene of the movie with the actress squatting down watching the door, knife in hand, stabbing the floor while waiting on her husband to get home, creepy nasty grin fixed firmly in place.

Actually a number of these are ripped either directly or indirectly from movies or books. Doesn't make them any less creepy.
--A massive tree looms over the slight hill. Its leafless, twisted limbs stretch upwards in a fixed moment of shocked agony.
--The lone scarecrow guarding the field has seen better days. Its loose clothing nearly falling off rotted wooden bones and its burlap sack of a head has lost an eye to a nonplussed crow.
--The door is large and sturdy. Evidentally some animal had been kept in this room as a number of claw marks are gouged into the dark red paint.
--The hallway is filled with dozens of animal trophies. Most are deer antlers, bleached to form a wall of white and glistening knives on either wall just slightly above eye-length.

--An old Victorian style doll, covered in dust and clearly old, that has a face and clothing that matches your own.
--Hanging on the wall in what resembles a series of picture frames are selections of stretched skin, some bear tattoos, leading you to believe that the skin is human.
--on a table or counter you find an old straight razor that is covered with, and sitting in a pool of dried blood. There is also a trail of dried blood on the floor, leading away from the razor.
--An old photo book that contains family pictures. The pictures of the family, however, were clearly taken after they had passed on. Their bodies posed in a way to resemble and mock life, but they eyes clearly show they are dead. There is one exception, and she is found in every picture, a little girl in a white dress.

One of those Cthulhu Plush toys placed among a normal collection of stuffed animals in a child's room. Even if you are in the middle of a landlocked desert and the campaign has yet to point to anything close to deep ones, many players will get awfully paranoid.
A death note (be sure to mess around with the rules and place nasty sanity damage, alignment shifts, or something to stop players from using it as a kill anything weapon. Making the 'must kill every 13 days or die' rule real is a fair start)
