| #1malburOct 17, 2009 13:14:08 | Hey does anyone have a way for calculating trade values for a D20 Apocalypse game? I've looked through the book and it doesn't actually say how to do it for things that aren't in the books. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm especially looking at weapons and cars but am not sure how to do it. Also does anyone have any suggestions on how to prevent someone trading 30 bullets for a car? It seems like this isn't what they intended with the rules but I'm not sure... Thanks! |

Hell, a few bullets loaded into a gun and never fired can be "worth a car" if you use them right. Somehow I feel like I'm chanelling Backstabbist with that last sentence. |
| #3rhialtoOct 17, 2009 15:23:24 | The official rule: 1) Find a similar item in the main core rulebook (ie same general type of item, same legality rating, price within a point or two). 2) Look up that item's TU value in Apocalypse 3) Adjust up or down a TU or three for flavour and for your general opinion of how your apocawhoops went.

| #6RagitsuOct 17, 2009 18:47:31 | Slave trade? HUH? |
| #7dbayOct 18, 2009 0:56:50 | more like Grave Trade. As in, "you can have a shallow grave in return for keeping your car. deal?" |
| #8narukagamiOct 18, 2009 1:09:41 | Rule #1 about deciding the value of things for a Post-Apcalyptic campaign: Never let your sense of current availability and value effect what you think the value of something would be for the survivors of the Apocalypse. Mainly, always remember what the USE of something is, HOW something has to be used, and how easy it is to make before deciding the value. We may have a lot of something now, and can make more, but after an apocalypse remember that no one is making these things anymore, and the ones that remain are the ONLY ONES left. A car sounds useful. But unless someone is making gas, various car parts, oil, batteries, tires, air pumps to inflate said tires, maintaining roads (depending on the vehicle's offroad capability), these things will run out, and its usefulness after the apocalypse is thus very short lived. Bullets on the other hand, in a lawless future where the only rule is survival... well, the only thing more useful than them is the gun to shoot them from. |

How many Parts Mechanical do you get from a car, Dishwashers, cars, and treadmills will be of high value, |

| #11RagitsuOct 18, 2009 11:13:33 | How much lint, buttons, screws and wood does it take to make a Part Mechanical? "Gee, that's a unique looking mecha you've got there" |
| #12backstabbistOct 18, 2009 21:23:57 | Parts Maniacal |
