So my DM in his infinite wisdom has decided to start a 9th level future game. So what is the most broken thing I can throw at him with the core book, the future book and its tech expansion. I think were doing something with some sort of mini mech's.
To put this in simple terms I want him to cry. I know this isn't the nice thing or the right thing to do but bare with me.

So lets see what we got

MAX OUT your wealth bonus. Shrink down starship and mecha weapons to medium/large size using the gadgets that make items smaller, integrate them into your armor, shrink down two rail rifles to small size with gadgets and duel wield them. Slap on any other random gadget you want with your wealth bonus that never falls below +10 thanks to that Heir feat (or was it a starting occ? I forget) particularly the accuracy and damage bonus ones.

Carry around enough firepower to, literally, destroy cities. Gain sustenance from his tears.

Or, purchase a gargantuan or colossal mecha and enjoy enough hardness and hitpoints you're immune to virtually anything. Even other mecha.

To put it simply, you have to try very hard NOT to break d20 Future. ;)

*points up to Slider's post* While you're at it, be an Aleerin.

Really, though, are you ****** at your GM because he's running a future campaign, or because he's running it using d20Future?

Oh these are great I'm going to try out the crazy wealth bonus and shrinking waepons.

Master Vega: I'm ticked becasue he stopped our seemingly good urban arcana game because one player who I don't belive actually likes D&D ( a players dad wants to spend more time with his son so its okay most of the time) wanted to change.

These are good keep em' coming!

Oh, if you can get one PC to have a Ship, and another with a Mech,
it will drive you GM nuts to try to get you all to fight in the same system

To put this in simple terms I want him to cry. I know this isn't the nice thing or the right thing to do but bare with me.

So lets see what we got

Just one question . . . why are you being a dick?

I mean, I realize I don't have the full story, but, in general, I have noticed that when PCs go out of their way to super-munchkin everything they find, then the campaign will end in under two sessions. The reason for this is that people who set out to munchkin generally don't give two (blanks) about their characters and thus they don't give two (blanks) about the plot, they just want to, well, to make the GM cry. And Y'know what? he will, and you will stop playing, and then you will be out of a game.

So, unless you are setting out to purposefully make the GMs campaign fail, (which makes you a dick), why are you doing this?

NOTE: This is not the . . . er . . . whatchamacallit fallacy. I realize that 'optimized' characters can also be deep and meaningful and all that. But characters who are set up from the start with the sole purpose of bing munchkin are, in general, not.

A: the campaign will end in under two sessions

I'm ticked because he stopped our seemingly good urban arcana game because one player who I don't believe actually likes D&D ( a players dad wants to spend more time with his son so its okay most of the time) wanted to change.

Looks to me that he had a nice non-munchkin campaign that is getting hosed to start a Brokenpaloosa campaign (d20Future). If enough Future gaping holes are exposed, that the GM will have to work hard to try to fix, then maybe they can get back to the assumedly 'working' UA campaign

Honestly, I can't figure out what you're trying to accomplish. If you have a problem with the way your GM is doing things, then just tell him about it. Taking out frustrations in the game is just passive-aggressive. Grow a pair and talk to the guy.

If that's how you get your kicks then, well, there's nothing I can do about that. Be prepared to poison your table and probably lose your gaming buddies, though. There's only so much of that dysfunction a group can take before people start quietly bowing out of playing. And if your GM/DM bows out and nobody else steps up, then you're really out of luck.

So have fun with that...

not really if you think about it. (then again I've never enjoyed the torment of others except maybe their characters but, they aren't people anyways:D )

I have talked to the guy and said "Hey no one at the table are big fans of any of the future games except you and lets say Dan (dan being gamer dad)."

His response being "You guy's will like it it will be like (insert other DM's name here) game."
Sadly we can be sure it wont compare to what ever he was thinking. I allways like his hopes for a campaign but when he said its going to be like serenity (which made me go woohoo) but with mechs (which made me and the rest of the group minus "Dan" go CRAP!).
i really like being in his group even if he can be a (well you know) and I can deal with it but this has me saying "if he wants to run future be prepared to pay the price." This seems to be the sentiment of the group also.

I know the next thing is going to be "well then just leave" I 've thought about that but His games that he dosen't run thats based on a previous campaign is great. We've troed to convince him but him and Dan are going for it but the other five of us can't stand it.

We had a great DM that ran a huge game that involved the players haedding out from a empire and setting up a vilage in the wilderness and defending it from an invading army. At the end we found out we were being played by the people who sent us out to set up and run the vilage. Huge fight sceen and it was a bundle of fun.

He ran a game suspicously similar and it crashed and burned within five sessions.

On the other hand this current DM ran about seven Eberron moduals that led from on to another seemlessly this game lasted for about a year and a half.

Now this up coming game that he's going to be running is based off of a game ran by the afore mentioned DM and I can see it coming. The rest of the group see the same thing but don't feel inclinded to bring it up (as I've said I allready talked to him).I'm the only one willing to bring it up. So this leads me to say Mr.DM I salute your bravery at trying to run this game but I must break you of this habbit.

so in a kind of warped way you seem to be the only person that cares about fun, that's fine. But why won't the other players bring it up? tell them that they need to or it's going to be a teeth clenching brutal couple of sessions till the end.

Honestly, the whole scenario sounds like bullheadedness and bad communication all around. Your fellow gamers are biting their tongues, your GM seems dead set on running a game that only one other player is really interested in, and you, with all due respect, are meticulously planning a passive-aggressive ambush.

I had a game go kind of sideways on me recently (not bad, just not as good as I wanted), so I just talked to my players (aka, my friends). I said "Sup? If this isn't going well, how can I make it better? What do you want out of it?" I found out it was a simple matter of having a couple of different ideas of what constituted "fun," so I adjusted my approach, the players felt like I was listening, and we all carried on. It sounds like your table could benefit from something like that.

this sounds more like personal issues and not anything to do with one setting or the other. This game will end because of its players, not because of the rules being used. I really hate to see otherwise good groups break up because if this. I like to think of my gaming buddies as friends, and I wouldn't ever do this kind of thing to a friend.

As far as D20future goes, I look at is as a DM toolkit and not a player's supplement. Its not a catalog for a player to look through to find whatever he wants and slap it together. Its an idea book for a DM to assemble a list of tech with the variety he likes. While it would be nice if it looked like it wasn't designed by a group of guys that were locked in separate rooms, its only as broken as the DM allows it to be.

This game will end because of its players, not because of the rules being used.

You are blaming the trees while ignoring the forest.

YEs, the game will end because of the players.
The reason the player is ending the game is because of the camapign.
he said its going to be like serenity (which made me go woohoo)
but with mechs (which made me and the rest of the group minus "Dan" go CRAP!)

Now he is saying he is going to be using all the brokenness of McFuture.
Of course he will, because if you leave out all the broken stuff you are left playing Yahtzee.
Not his fault the GM is telling him to use a messed up ruleset, with emphasis on using one of the more messed up parts as core to the campaign.

It would be like playing BladeRunner Future Noir (cool)
but with mechs (aww crap)

Q: What does a Disintegrator do?
if you answered disintegrate, you need to go study more

I he really is gonna force a Future game,
dont go quietly into that good night.
Gunpowder weapons scale from 22Derringers to 16"Navalguns
Lasers come in the same sizes from 2d6 pistol to 8d8Shiplasers
Of course there will be sizes for the other weapons technologies to fit the standard nominal roles:
IMAGE(http://www.geocities.com/kpricz/pics/pistol_amr.jpg)
Bold entry is RAW
RAW Disintegrator is only 6lb, so Carbine sized
RAW Railgun(grav) is 18lb, so MagnumRifle sized
Note: From MagnumRifle --> AMR in pl5 is +33% damage, so I made it +33% later too

Notice the AGB (artificial game balance) of damage cap as centuries of advancements dont make weapons better. What would a Miniature Plasma AMR stat as, and why is the Plasma Pistol nowhere near those stats.
Or maybe a different tack:
Take a non-mech guy with TWF LasPistol and Light body armor, build as Fast9 ship pilot (no mech)
and frequently demonstrate how completely useless he is when guys walk around in Hardness 15 suits.
After you have to have the rest of the team wake you up about 4 or 5 times a day they will notice anything that will scratch the PCs in mechs will turn you to goo, and plain weapons are a joke against Hardness 15.

A crap-ass system can still be fun to play, if you roll with it and don't take it too seriously (ah, memories of Palladium). This game will collapse because (a) it sounds like the GM is not being sensitive to his players' actual needs, and (b) one particular player is setting out to ruin the game before it even starts. The brokenness of Future is just the icing on the cake at that point.

he said its going to be like serenity (which made me go woohoo)

Sounds like 1 player not trying to ruin a game.
This leads me to believe he would enjoy a Serenity type game... and not try to incoprorate all the brokenness of d20Future mech rules

alas, methinks that will not be possible
Something is giving me a gut feeling that the brokenness of the mech rules will be unavoidable
but with mechs (which made me and the rest of the group minus "Dan" go CRAP!)

oh, yeah... thats whats making think they are hose with or without the 1 players actions

it will be about as much like Serenity
as having a LaraCroft game with SuperStarDestroyers swordfighting each other

We have had plenty of Firefly Serenity concept threads here
and not one of them said Put Everyone In Mechs
