In fact, I like the level of detail D20 Modern gives the characters, and so I worked out a quick and dirty system to add powers to D20 Modern characters. Here's a quick view of the rules: 1. Make character according to D20 Modern (start at least level 4). 2. Spend Power Points on Abilities, Powers, Feats and Skills. To determine how many power points your character gets, use the chart on page 24 of M&M, but subtract 50. A 10th level character receives 100 PP, as an example (there are no super-powered characters below level 4). 3. Abilities start with the D20 elite array (15,14,13,12,10,8). Additional points can be bought with Power Points as follows: Str or Dex 2/Point All other Abilities 1/Point Special rules: Str above +10 only adds to damage, not melee to hit. So a character with a 33 Str is +10/+12. Similarly, Dexterity bonus to hit with ranged or finesse weapons tops out at +10. Skills: Skills can be bought at 4 ranks/Power Point, as in Mutants & Masterminds Feats: Feats can be bought at 1/Power Point, as in Mutants & Masterminds. Mostly will use D20 feats, though I might dip into M&M for a few. Action Points: In addition to normal uses, Action Points can be used to reduce damage. 1 Action point reduces damage by 1d6, and the character cannot use more than 1 Action Point per round in this way. |

I should be coming out with a finalised "v1.0" sometime in the next few months, but the version below is fully playable. It's also totally free and will always be free. Enjoy. |
