Okay, since it seems putting the link in the last thread on this subject confused a couple of people, here's a new, more accurately titled thread for the download link.

PDF'd Advanced Class Revamp

Please feel free to read and use this material. Critiques and comments would be greatly appreciated.

Could you explain the rationale and basic thinking behind the changes you've made? That would help in understanding what you've written.

Wasn't it in the intro of the PDF?

Basically, I - among several others - didn't like the inconsistency between the basic classes and advanced classes. More specifically, we disliked how closed the advanced classes' progressions were compared to the freedom of the talent systems the basic classes used.

At the same time, I didn't want to just make another Strong, Fast, Tough, Smart, etc... so I tried to keep the specialization and definition advanced classes gave while increasing their versatility to a level similar to the basic classes. You still go into Advanced classes to specialize, but it's now more of an open canvas than just: here's what a soldier must be.

All the talents I added were to expand the player's options within any given advanced class, to allow more playable archetypes. The changes in BAB and such in some of the classes, well actually Martial Artist is the only one I remember nerfing, are to fix some of the imbalances of the original AdC's (MA being a better shot than the Soldier, for instance.)

Hopefully that makes sense? I'm kinda rushing 'cause I have work soon. >_>

Right after I posted that, I noticed that text in the file. Sorry about that! But now, at least, it's here in the thread, as well.

Quick thing. Haven't dug that deep, but one thing stuck out at me, "Hail of Led" from the Gunslinger should be "Hail of Lead".

@ Orion - Heh, I suppose that's true.

@ Nobodez - Thanks. I'll start putting together a fix-it list so I can get everything done at once.

@ Master Vega- I initially worked your AdC Talent trees into the Word Doc SRD for my own use and recently downloaded the PDF to see if you made any changes... if its not illegal to I can PDF it myself and send your way

Umm, that'd be awesome, man. Mainly, if anyone uses this material in one of their own creations I'd just like stuff credited to me (and I think a few others probably, yourself included since you did help me with the direction of the Expansion Project.)

Just because I've got a little copywrite symbol and my name in the beginning doesn't mean I'm going to be a nazi about it. Thank you for asking, though. Go right ahead.

You could set up a Creative Commons license, if you feel that way about it. There are different levels of protection you're claiming on your intellectual "property." Check it out:

creativecommons.org/

And for the Canuckleheads among us:

creativecommons.ca/

I'm sure there are equivalents in other countries, but I don't know what all of them are.

Cheers.

Thanks, Orion. I'll look into that.
