I'm thinking of creating a mini campaign based on thisinteresting comic series. I have only just started reading the series. I picked up a copy of Wounded Animals from Emerald City ComiCon and met the author and artist who talked me into buying it, with autographs of course. Anyway, I haven't really gotten far into it yet but I really like the concept.

Do you think d20 Modern would be a good system for this or should I consider something else like Palladium (TMNT combined with another sourcebook or two could do the trick) or Alternity?

If I use d20 Modern, which optional rules should I use and should I start the PCs at a level higher than 1?

Don't know much about the comic series, but you should take a look at Moreau creatures on page 247 of the CRB.

If I use d20 Modern I was going to use the Moreau creatures. I haven't really played much d20 Modern so I wasn't sure if the system was the right one for the setting. I am also wondering if I should use d20 Future or other supplements to get the feel just right.

I can't look at the comic, but the moreaus look like they'd be a good fit.

Only problem is comming up with moreaus for the critters that aren't already in the book

Overt moreaus have +4 to one stat, -4 to another stat, +2 to a different stat, and -2 to another stat

The stats are always split along a physical and mental trait, so that you can't create the ultimate mental trait hero or ultimate physical trait hero.. they take one penalty to both sides of the fence.

Hippo +4 Str -4 dex, -2 int +2 wis. Overt Hippo's gain large size

Giraff +2 Str -2 dex -4 int +4 wisdom. Giraffs gain a +4 species bonus on spot checks due to their heightened vantage point.
