Flash Clones?

First of all, let me clarify what I mean by a flash clone.

Imagine having a cloned human embryo, loaded in a chamber with advanced cell replication apparati and a pre-programmed setting. The cloned subject is then given a chip in their central nervous system which, upon death, activates a beacon across any and all channels capable of sending a broadcast. When these signals reach the chamber, the individual's memories, personality, and other functions (the soul, if you will) is transplanted by electronic broadcast to the chamber, which causes the embryonic clone to be rebuilt in the form last successfully broadcast to the shell by the chip.

This causes the dead individual to, for all intents and purposes, be revived in a new body.

If this were to exist in a D20 Future campaign, what PL would you set it as (I'm thinking 7) and what would the DC to buy a flash clone be?

Also, would you put any limitations on this device, so individuals can't simply get an infinite supply of clones?

Let me review my Future and Future Tech books tonight and my own notes on this prospect since I have homebrew tech generated around this concept...

its really difficult to apply a PL rating, but I would just peg it at 7 myself. As for limitations, just apply the resurrection level loss as normal. This eliminates the player from killing himself just because he doesn't want to walk all the way back to civilization. The reason being that the data impression of the individual just doesn't have a real time resolution and there is some degradation. Older skills and memories are more certain, but the recent stuff just hasn't resided in long term memory enough to imprint clearly.

Rationalizations aside, this limitation has worked for D&D for decades so stick to what works. You can also create the process at one PL higher to emulate True Res, for an activated clone with no level loss.

Voice of the Whirlwind I believe it was called dealt with clones... a person could buy/purchase several types of insurance policies that allowed for various degrees of memory implantation or the clone would remember only to a set time period i.e. the clone remembers everything until five months before the original died which is when they took a job say for an interstellar crime family...
I remember there were; Alpha, Beta, and Gamma I think of the insurance plans or that was the numbering for the clone... lets see if I can find my copy to reread and I will get back to you.
