#1 valentein Jul 26, 2008 1:08:15	Just curious, because I've never quite figured out what's supposed to happen in these situations... If you add a template to a creature with a fractional CR, say a 1st-level Smart Ordinary and the Agent of the Void template from d20 Future (a +3 CR adjustment), would the proper modified CR be a CR of 3.5, or would it advance by 3 CR "steps", from 1/2 CR to 1 CR, then 2 CR and finally 3 CR? What about adding the same template to, say, a goblin with a CR of 1/4? The CR "steps" would advance from 1/4 CR to 1/3 CR, then 1/2 CR and finally a total of 1 CR, rather than a CR of 3.25. In the other direction, what about creating a Replacement (-1 CR) of the 1st-level Smart ordinary? Would it simply decrease a step (from CR 1/2 to CR 1/3) or become some sort of nonexistent -.5 CR? I'm curious as to what opinions there are to give. Considering how much hinges on CR in Modern it'd be good to know what others think before deciding whether to go one way or the other. Thanks!
#2 kjakan Jul 27, 2008 7:34:21	As far as I can tell you treat the character as having CR 0 when you add a character levels or templates to it. E.g. A Goblin is CR 1/4. A Goblin Fast Hero 3 is CR 3. I expect a Goblin Fast Ordinary would be CR 2. As far as "negative" CR is concerned, I see your point. Counting each negative by incrementing the divisor should work: CR 2 CR 1 CR 1/2 CR 1/3 CR 1/4 etc. -K
