| #1zippiesdrainageFeb 22, 2010 10:09:41 | I'm gearing up to run a homebrew D20 campaign set in the Pulp Era 1920s-30s. I really want to have the typical mad scientist trying to take over the world and building armies of robots... you know, typical Pulp stuff. However, I'm having trouble deciding what to have him threaten the world with. I don't want it as predictable as a nuclear warhead or something typical, I would love something off the wall and odd, much like the drill going to the center of the earth to detonate a warhead like in Austin Powers. So I'm hoping to get some advice from you guys if you have any ideas of how you would outlandishly destroy the world. Thanks |

This is definitely the path type to explore. Using some current or past super-science theory which you morph into a horrendously diabolical weapon of world destroying power. example: Gravity Waves and Rayleigh–Taylor Instability used to create The Megatronic Gravitic Destabilizer Beam Generator of Doom (edit:add) per suggestion below -- added "of Doom" (edit:add) paratime.ca/d20/pulp/ |

| #7TheRealOrionFeb 23, 2010 2:16:20 | Turning all seasalt into gold will have cause much larger problems than destabilising economies. Economics will be the least of our troubles when both the water cycle and the food chain are utterly destroyed on a global level. So really, that qualifies as a some seriously ironic evil genius. PS: everything you create should have "of doom" at the end. |
| #8backstabbistFeb 23, 2010 12:08:00 | Sure the collapse of the food chain, and subsequent demise of 75% of the planets life, is an unfortunate downside, but the E in BBEG is there for a reason. You cant make an omelet without breakin a few eggs, and I cant take over the world without killing a few (or most) people. Again, I say it is a critical design flaw in the eccosystem if changing one little thing like oceanic saltwater is an ELE. ![]() Its like when the global forces tried to stop me from testing my Particle Stream canon, even though the math showed it over 90% likely to not ignite the atmosphere. What so bad with a 10% chance of a firey death ELE... 10% is like 1 in a million shot, lets roll them dice... but Noooooo, the SafetyScience Goody2Shooes slap me with the Mad label yet again and oppress my scientific advancements. I tell ya, if the planet survives my prototypes we could have some awesome stuff. |
