| #1trappedsliderMay 04, 2009 1:46:51 | Lets assume for a moment that they have announced a new D20 modern without telling us the rule set. This is thread is part of my drive to get them to know that we the d20 modern fan base feel left out from all of the new and shiny things. So ask a question and i'll make sure that they get sent up the chain of command. I'll start it off with : Who would work on the design of the next version of d20 modern? Will the d20 modern forum get a make over and be taken out from under the D&D banner and given its own banner instead of being a sub forum? |
| #2nclancemanMay 04, 2009 2:55:38 | Will the next version of d20 Modern have a built-in set of rules for chases? Will we and how often would we get new adventures? Is the guy who decided 5.7mm rounds do as much damage as a .50AE round still there? If we ask really nicely, can we keep our iconics since Moondog is the coolest guy ever? If train A leaves Baltimore and travels toward Boston at 70mph and train B leaves Boston at the same time traveling in the opposite direction at 40mph, where and when will they meet? |
| #3RagitsuMay 04, 2009 2:58:38 | Will vehicles receive more slightly comprehensive stats? |
| #4trappedsliderMay 04, 2009 3:03:10 | If train A leaves Baltimore and travels toward Boston at 70mph and train B leaves Boston at the same time traveling in the opposite direction at 40mph, where and when will they meet? do your own homework :P |
| #5psininjaMay 04, 2009 11:24:10 | 1. Are the problems with BAB fixed? Meaning, will a strong/martial artist still be able to shoot better than my fast/gunslinger/sniper? 2. Do the saving throws for things like autofire and grenades scale up now so they aren't useless at higher levels? 3. Is there a possiblity of using damage reduction for body armor instead of a defense bonus? A leather jacket deflecting a tank shell is a bit much, even for cinematic action. 4. Will WoTC make a real effort to balance the core book against future releases? I'm thinking the advanced classes from Future here. 5. Will WoTC actually proofread and playtest this one? |
| #6MechaPilotMay 04, 2009 21:23:20 | What time range will the new modern CRB cover? If we get old west rules in it, can we expect rules for six-shooters, quick-draws, and catching trains on horseback? |
| #7backstabbistMay 04, 2009 21:23:53 | Ninja, "will a strong/martial artist still be able to shoot better than my fast/gunslinger/sniper?" given the way WoC gave melee Fighter a 7[12] attack in 4e, and the best a bow Ranger can do is a 4[10] attack, I have to believe they are still singing the Gimped Ranged Is Good Ranged song. They will simply replace "Cant Actully Hit'em" with the new "Cant Actually Hurt'em" plan |
| #8DwarfFighterMay 05, 2009 5:59:55 | Wow. I don't know where the OP wanted to go with this thread, but the responses mostly seem to be: "I think this is wrong with the system. Will WotC get their heads out of their asses and fix it?" To keep the steam going: 1. I think it's wrong to use range increments on missile weapons instead of range-bands. Will WotC get their heads out of their asses and fix it? 2. I think class bonuses and equipment bonuses to defense stack too high. Will WotC get their heads out of their asses and fix it? 3. I think animals don't scale well enough to challenge the PCs. Will WotC get their heads out of their asses and fix it? 4. I think differentiating the damage of firearms is pointless. A hangun should be 2d8, an assault rifle should be 2d10. Done and done. Will WotC get their heads out of their asses and fix it? 5. I think d20 Future is too sloppily put together. Will WotC get their heads out of their asses and fix it? Phew! That's my contribution. It felt real good to make this thread a lot better. -DF |
| #9trappedsliderMay 05, 2009 10:20:42 | Wow. I don't know where the OP wanted to go with this thread, but the responses mostly seem to be: "I think this is wrong with the system. Will WotC get their heads out of their asses and fix it?" since i'm the OP, I'll be slecting the questions that reflect what i was going with which means so far NCLanceman and MechaPilot questions... |
| #10backstabbistMay 05, 2009 10:50:45 | Q: Will there be published erratta for the next book? Q: Will personal armors made of modern and future materials offer better protection than the D&D stuff? Q: a) Will a $28 m67 Frag Grenade be a 'high level item' ? . . b) Will it be more explodey for some guys (level based damage), . . . . or use scatter & distance based damage, or fixed damage? . . c) Will Future have both 'standard damage' MiniGrenades and better damage StandardGrenades? |
| #11MechaPilotMay 05, 2009 15:47:17 | Will military equipment be available to non-military characters by simply purchasing a license, or will they have to pay the heavily inflated black-market cost? Will we be able to customize the capabilities of gear? Will these custom capabilities be balanced through the full range of character play? I know this is a rules question, but I can't help myself: Can we please let the wealth bonus/check system die? |
| #12rhialtoMay 05, 2009 16:11:59 | I know this is a rules question, but I can't help myself: Have a cookie. Always struck me as weird that you'd have to roll to see if you remembered to bring enough money to pay your restaurant bill. Kill the wealth bonus system. Kill it with fire. |
