Some of my friends have been playing with the idea of restarting roleplay night and being that I am the resident DM, they looked to me for ideas.  Well, being a major horror/creepypasta fan, I figured I would unnerve them with some campiagns based on such.  Only thing is, I am having trouble with stats and such.  Start off points aren't the problem, since I pretty much have the stories covered.

The first major enemy I am working on is the "Slender Man," a tall, very think, featureless being in a suit.  The just of the mythos is that he kidnaps children and has a snaity-destroying effect on those who see/face him.  He is also able to change his arms into tentacles for grabing multiple kids.  He can then come and go in a litteral blink of an eye.

I have tried using various charts and such to make him up, stat wise, but to no avail.  He needs to feel powerful and fightening, but there must still be a way to defeat him.

Consider basing him off the D+D Mindflayers? Mind blast destroys sanity. Ethereal travel allows him to blink out. Tentacles attacks are arms rather than Mouthparts?

Hmm, that might work.  But, I think he might be tougher than a standard Mindflayer, but he is rather slow movement-wise (he kinda ambels or trudges like an old person), how much should I bump up the stats?  I want him to feel like the one in the mythos, but still be beatable.  Also, would you consider his arms tranforming into tenacles a free action or a movement action in combat?  He usually doesn't move around with his tanacles about, since that might draw attaention and he is rather stealthy (unless he wants to annoy the bejeezus out of someone).

Increase his constituition for more HP, Change hd to D10. Natural weapons like tentacles usually get a free action but since this is a transformation I would consider it movement, have him hiss while holding his arms up. If he ambles at 20' movement that's no problem, just write down 20'.

Check D&D Monster Manual V, the mind flayers of Thoon section, starting on page 104. Two altered mind flayers plus 4 constructs (couple of them are living constructs I think), plus a few other related creatures. Could give you some nice ideas.

The Lords of Madness book is a good resource for illithids as well. Try getting your Players to give you copies of their Pc sheets. This way you can playtest new monsters for viability and have a backup for when somebody loses or forgets his copy.

How about the Book of Vile Darkness? Might have to town down some creatures and abilities to meet with D20 Modern standards, but stuff like Aura of Madness can be fun. Forcing will or fort saves anytime they come within the radius to hit with a melee weapon will cause some tactical rethinking on the parts of the PCs, especially when used in an area where they can't move far beyond the radius.

Oh yeah, I forgot about Libris Mortis. Also the Fiendish Codexes are useful.

On amazon.com some of the Mongoose Publishing books are going on sale for under 5$. I would consider getting a few Slayers Guides, the one for yuan-ti,kobolds ,perhaps the compendium of slayers guides.

Wow, lots of nice support and ideas!  I took a look at the Mindflayer and used the changes you all listen and it works well (I have some premade character sheets made for such testing), but I'm not sure about the hiss, since being that he has no face kinda, I don't think he can hiss.  He uses his mind to speak, which is always in a booming, unearthly echo (at least, that's what the mythos says).  As for all the books you all listen, I unfortunatly, don't have them.  But since you said they are about $5 on Amazon, looks like I'll be doing a littel shopping.

mm, I HAD thought of that because at some point, I was thinking of getting a small newtbook that would have been used solely for roleplaying which would have all that on there, but I also like having the physical books to page though whne I just need to check something quick.

In order to keep the hobby alive I prefer to pay the creative people rather than steal from them. Still there's a lot of freebies out there. Need any help with other monsters?
