While the skeptics still say this is a hoax, there is compelling evidence that this is of extraterrestrial origin. It was found in a Mayan temple dedicated to the a squid-god. We aren't sure if there were visitors when the Mayans had it or they found it there. It radio carbon dates to around 10,000bc, and it is made out of composite materials that experts believe to have had to have been manufactured in zero gravity. When a light is shined behind it, the stars light up.
The map is from an Alpha Centauri perspective. Sol is next. 61 Cygni is in the lower left corner and they star furthest out is 26 Draconis. Since 26 Draconis is similar to Alpha Centauri, it is suspected that one of those systems might be their home world. The star in the upper right is Procyon and the red star next to it is Sirius. We're not sure why Sirius, a type A white star, would be red. Perhaps some nebular interference that is gone today.
We know they were here, but we haven't found any of their ruins. Perhaps they only stopped off here as our system, being a single star, was too resource poor for them.
