I'm going to be starting a game on saturday but i've been thrown a curve ball in the weapon he wants to use, he wants to use an Electric Guitar as his weapon,by swinging it around,so how owuld i stat it out and could he use the strings as detenators for explosives?

Second question : The game i plan to do will be the PCs hunting down things like Jason,Freddie etc, who are in reality expriments gone wrong from the Elite Security Force,so my second question is,

What monster should i start the guys off with and how should i bring in the ESF?

In terms of using an electric guitar as a weapon, I would refer to the table provided for improvised weapons.  It would probably be a medium sized object that deals the damage shown in that table.  Also, for the strings being detonators, that might get tricky, what would they detonate?  I suppose it might be possible as it would create an electric current but they'd have to be specially made explosives to work with his guitar as the detonator.

As for monsters to start with, it might be prudent to go after specific people who have armies of body guards, such as people who have knowledge of these failed experiments.  Also, are you expecting to bring in Urban Arcana at all, or just stick to the CRB?

well i think the player was thinking about using the strings to denatenate C4 and such, and i'm going to sitck the CRB and the meance manual

The players will be working for department 7 of the UN and they will have no clue about that the monsters they face are failed expireaments...

Ok, well I'd consider things that are humanoid or can be human, along with animals or plants... so from the CRB there is: Dinosaurs (somehow recreated, perhaps Jurassic Park style), Invisible Stalkers, Monstrous Flytrap, Monstrous Spider, Flesh Golems, Moreaus, and Zombies, with the pretense that some lab somewhere made these things (evil scientist trying for world domination and all, or someone who has a grudge against society, wanting to see it burn)...  Or is that not exactly what you're looking for?

what level do they start at?

If they're level 1 and have guns, going up against level 3 creatures shouldn't be too difficult for them... you might want the scare factor to be up there rather than the actual fighting if this is the case though...

thats a good start, but it honestly seems like a 'random' encounter type thing... you can't exactly make every monster they fight a dropbear after all!  But definitely not a bad idea as they'd fit in perfectly pretty much anywhere i feel... can you have them go up against some regular humans (from the enemies list where they're pre-stat'd) until they're around level 2?

Its not going to be a random encounter....The drop bear had escaped from the Elite Security Force's lab down in Australia. Where it had been genitcally mssed with from its normal happy kola bear roots.

Now I've been thinking that the players can either run into a couple of guys from ESF who are after the drop bear or stumble unto a huge fenced in camp samiliar to a WWII POW camp.

Then depending on what happens next, the PCs may go to NYC to deal with a generic jason type thing, that ESF is testing out

and at some point, I'm hoping that they players will figure out that ESF is behind this and realize that they want to take over the world in the name of the New World Order

gotcha, that works excellently, good planning there!

For the strings, that's easy. It could either be an electronic pull switch or breakwire (although you'd want to be careful not to make it so sensitive that you don't trigger all of them trying to activate one), or if using an electric guitar, instead of the normal setup, the current triggered by the strings is sent to a RF transmitter (each string triggering a different frequency), which would send a signal to the receiver which would then dump power into the electric detonator/blasting cap, thus detonating the C-4. Of course, you could only have as many detonators as you have strings. It would be a very odd fellow who did this, since even though it is quite possible, it is a very specialized custom made device. There's certainly much easier ways to go about it, but I suppose if you have a guitar fetish...

Also, how does he keep the strings from activating when he hits someone with the guitar, or when someone hits him, or he parries with the guitar, etc? Rather than using the guitar as a weapon, it might be better just to have a firearm concealed within the guitar body. Or do like other mad bombers do and not use a guitar...

I could see the C4 or chosen explosives, after being set and primed, set off by some sort of chord/note that the PC strikes on his guitar that activates a tremor detonator that could at GM discretion be set at different chords/notes at a later level

GM: So how block of C4 do you have left... my count says seven
PC: Thats correct
GM: And how many detonators...
PC: Four after using X-amount to prime the cut blocks from the previous traps...
GM: Good, so how are you going to set them in the cave tunnel... remember the enemy will find you in X-rounds
PC: I'll set three double block and one single....
GM: And the enemy dies sealing the rest in the lower caves.... congratualations you caused a cave-in

That would be a really specialized accoustic detonator (and probably expensive due to its unique nature). The problem being that many accoustic sensors are also set off by seismic activity, such as a nearby detonation. Still, it could exist. The other problem is that so many factors play into this, it would be hard to reliably detonate on the right cord while not detonating on the wrong cord. Distance, echo, etc can all change the tone the receiver picks up. Also, any ***hole with a guitar could then set off that detonator. Generally, you want pretty good control over your explosives. That's why I suggest keeping with a RF device concealed inside the guitar body. Much easier and more reliable.

True and don't forgot the badguys with the acoustically correct high definition stereo system in their base and they just happen to play it via the PA system....  PC walking away from a rigged charge then boom

So yes keep the RF detonator for now
