Land-Warrior-Type Armour?

Hi guys,
I recently borrowed Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter from a buddy, and I've been wondering how to translate such equipment into d20 Modern. The Land Warrior armour from d20 Future is all about the fluff, but I'd like to give it some crunch too. I was thinking about improving the benefits from the Teamwork feat?

For those of you who have not played GRAW, imagine a less-bulky Land Warrior, FELIN, or other Future Soldier suit.

Any thoughts?

Well, some of the things it would do (like give everyone in the squad knowledge of an enemy one guy sees) are done already, it is just assumed the guy that sees it announces where they are. I think I remember it also showing where the guys were behind cover, though, is that right? I only played part of GRAW, didn't care for it much, give me max payne over that any day. If it did show where they were even after you couldn't see them, that would get rid of the percentage miss chance for concealment, as well as making it easier to shoot someone through cover, assuming you have rules for that.

My Post a Task Force thread was like that. Upsetting considering the quality of people on these boards.

@ Nodaisho: I don't know if it should remove miss chance, as it's still hard to hit 'em... But since it's a good idea, how about reducing the miss chance by 2 steps? As for cover, it could allow people to automatically guess where the target is if it has full cover. Miss chance should still apply IMO. But if the target has total cover for more than a few rounds from all the operators (including possible drones), the targetting optic fades.

@ Brokenoakleys & Hinthas: Yeah, I know, it can be real annoying. But, on the other hand, we (almost) only get good comments here, when we get 'em.

Speaking of threads started with very little feedback...

Not that i'm bitter or anything.

Anyway, the advantages of the Land Warrior armor in that game (last I checked) came mainly from it's vast communications package. Aside from having a secure line to one another, the wearers of the Land Warrior armor share lines-of-sight, which is to say that mechanically if one person sees where an enemy is, they all can.

You could say that this would give everyone a +5 bonus to Spot checks vs. targets their teammates have already seen or something. I can't think of any other benefits at the moment though since my entire experience with GRAW was the PC demo.

Perhaps a cumulative +4 to spot a target that another member of the team is already looking at? That way, if three characters in Land Warrior type armours are looking at a bad guy, the fourth gets a +12 to spot him?

There's also the 'I'm being attacked from the North-East' -part on the small compass. How would you translate that?

I don't think you fully realize what the Land Warrior Armor DOES!

It's not all fluff...

You can give your person FULL COVER (as in...you CANNOT be harmed) or even at the very least, 90% cover, depending on the angle of the wall.

Take a moment to imagine it. You are standing behind a concrete building. With the Land Warrior Armor and a gun hooked up to said armor, you can poke the gun...ONLY the gun...around the corner, and shoot someone. That's full cover. That's winning battles.

As well, another fun feature is the ability to receive data from the smarter members of the group.

Me thinks you underestimate the armor greatly.

I know. I was talking about the GRAW game. Me think you have not read the OP thoroughly. I'm not talking about shooting around corners, there was an other thread about that sometime back.
Me thinks you have not played GRAW.

Course, someone could still shoot the gun, Ruckus, for some reason it doesn't like getting hit by bullets as much as it liked sending them to hit stuff. And stuff like grenades could hit you with an AoE, or rules for firing through cover. If both sides had land warrior armor, it would get really boring if nobody figure out how to hit someone that was hiding.

Lets not try to stat up a multi system integrated combat suit, but rather develope each componant of that integrated suit.

To wit: The Sensors & Comms could be no more than a pair of goggles / hardhat, and fannypack system. Those capabilities get integrated into the suit, but the technology can still be standalone, such as a handheld pda CombatTracker.

Remote Enhanced Spot
Cumulative +4 Spot for each team member over 20' away from you, feeding target data of targets they have Spotted. This is a persistant effect of the equipment while active, Move Action required for the Aides to start the data stream on a target they have successfully spotted.

If the aiding team member loses hard location of the target, the stream is broken and LastKnown icon is placed on all recieving member's units until removed indiviually or by original target spotter.

I suggest the GunCam proficiency be similar to Autofire penalties.
Feat: Non-LOS Guncam Proficiency
Req: BAB +1
Benefit: This feat removes the -4 penalty for shooting a guncam without personal LOS at an otherwise spotable target (to include HUD type target locating). This allows a shooter to stay behind 90% cover & still shootNormal: Shooting a GunCam system without personal LOS is a -4 Attack. When using cover, shooters must expose themselve to 75% cover to shoot.

Cameragun, Exotic Proficiency
Benefit: Allows using a cameragun as anything other than an IronSight weapon, without the -4 Non-Prof penalty.

Exotic Weapon Proficiency (CameraGun): So you're suggesting a -4 penalty for using weapons with HUD-link when it's not used as a 'shoulder-your-weapon-and-fire-soldier!'-weapon? Sounds reasonable.

Non-Line Of Sight GunCamera Proficiency: Where does this additional -4 penalty come from? Without this feat, is there a 75% cover when GunCameraShooting? Or regular shooting?

Good ideas there 'stabbist.

It takes an Exotic feat to shoot the m60, and yet you need another feat to get Autofire from it, A featless Mook takes -4Non-Prof AND -4FeatlessAutofire.

I trying to getthat knd of thing:
1 feat to use a computerized gun.
Another feat to ShootAroundCorner. You are completely out of shooting position & familiararity with the activity.

Any old musket can shoot from 75% cover.
If you want to use a CameraGun to shoot with 90% cover, that is a feat or a bunch on minuses.
Not to be confused with Shooting without looking & miss chances. Shove that musket around the corner & you have to play the Miss% game. The CameraGun lets you take normal shots, but with the Penalty-Feat set

Nope, it takes Personal Firearms Prof to fire an M60. And AdvFirearmsProf to fire it full auto.

Alright, so we have:
RandomMook(nofeats) fireing CameraGun: -4.
RandomMook fireing CameraGun with 75% cover: -4.
RandomMook fireing CameraGun with 90% cover: -8.
CameraGun Proficient guy fireing CameraGun: -0.
CameraGunProf guy fireing CameraGun with 75% cover: -0.
CameraGunProf guy fireing CameraGun with 90% cover: -4.
CameraGunProf guy with the NonLOS feat fireing Cameragun: -0.
CameraGunProf guy with the NonLOS feat fireing Cameragun with 75% cover: -0.
CameraGunProf guy with the NonLOS feat fireing Cameragun with 90% cover: -0.

Correct?

Edit: How about makin' them two feats bonus feats for Smarts? Or perhaps just NonLOS. Thoughts?

Land Worrier Armor
Plays soothing recordings of the ocean & dispenses Valium when the wearer gets too anxious. Come with built in GPS and OnStar, so the user is never alone, a news feed of propaganda extolling the great victories our side is making and low casualty rates.
