I've been playing Mass Effect for some weeks now and love it. Everytime I play, I envision how easily the fluff (not the crunch) could transfer to d20 Future. Has anyone attempted this?

P.S. Is it just me or did WotC bury this board? It took me a considerable while to locate it through Gleemax.

I think it could translate very well into a d20 Future setting.

And yes, its a pain to find this board these days, because its buried away with all the other boards Wizards couldn't give two ***** about.

I don't want to get on my soapbox, but I guess I will. I've pretty much jumped ship with WotC. Paizo has my attention these days, particularly with the 3.5 SRD revision it's creating. (Not a big fan of 4e either, so Paizo's PRPG is right up my alley.)

As for the meat of the post, I'm thinking that the main thing would be to find comparable monsters to translate into the various races of Mass Effect. But Mass Effect also does some wondrous work modifying armor, weapons, and gear. I'm also thinking that psionics might equate with the biotic abilities of some of the characters. Getting a conversion of those things would do much to make Mass Effect a reality.

It's a Bioware video game. Humans have just entered the galactic alliance and you play a hero that is at the apex of how humanity will be received . . . and whether there will be a galaxy to receive humanity, given the biggest threat that the galaxy has faced.

It's a blast and well done. Totally immersive. The races are interesting, the weapons and armor are fascinating, as is the mode of space travel.

The thing is, it certainly isn't modeled after d20 - so to make it transfer over, there would be a lot of conversion work. See http://www.bioware.com/.

The Star Wars Saga edition is likely the best system for this. Mass Effect is like Knights of the Old Republic, just without the light sabers. The Biotic effects translate better to force powers than to d20 Modern FX abilities.

I've been using Star Wars RCR, just because of its similarity to d20 Modern/d20 Future. But what you say certainly bears some consideration. (And I am a big fan of SWSE . . . which made things much more difficult when 4e didn't seem to follow SWSE as I had hoped.)

I'm working with another on putting together some tweaks. I'll suggest this to him and see what he thinks.

Dang there's ANOTHER thread about this. Well I'm actually pretty interested in developing a setting for this, d20 Future style. Maybe other systems would be better, but I own the Future books so screw other systems. :p

And anyway as far as deconstructionism goes....Mass Effect -> KOTOR -> NWN -> 3E D&D -> d20ish

I actually emailled Bioware asking if there were any restrictions on building a setting beyond, you know, selling it. No response, which I call clear path.
