Modern Game Props - Suggestions?

Feb 05, 2009 11:25:04 Where is a good place to get modern day figurines and other gaming props for modern (non-fantasy and non-futuristic) miniature battles?

I've been posting about different game props we use in fantasy campaigns like Dungeons & Dragons. However, I'm about to start a modern campaign setting soon (Spycraft v2.0) and I'm a little at a loss on where to get some quality modern game props.

Those are some of the props we've used, but most aren't applicable for a Spycraft setting. Anyone have suggestions?

Feb 05, 2009 13:36:34 The uber cheap way;

For vehicles Matchbox for cars and military vehicles
for PC's use I suggest either finding the paintable PVC/Plastic figures for use with the military scaled model kits... I have a set of Russian Spetsnaz somewhere from a while back that or go with the plastic army men for the mock NPC fights/groups i.e. the two groups attacking ala Predator 2 opening scene...

Feb 05, 2009 14:06:55 I think there's a site somewhere where you can download pictures and then print them and fold them so that they work on the battle map. Just put a penny in the base to give them some weight. It's a low-rent solution, but at least it's not "the mafia guys will be played by blood orcs."

Feb 16, 2009 18:54:10 a few weeks ago I got a book about titanic with faicsimiles included,like blue prints,ice warning stuff like and its given an idea to run a time travel game on board in which the PCs will play a key part in the ship's history mainly doing with a myth about what was in the cargo hold of the ship.

Nobody really believes there was a Dolphin Mind Control device developed by the navy locked away in the Titanics hold... that caused a marine mamal coalition to hurd icebergs infront of the ship, pushed by whales under supervision of the dolphins.

so just give it up
before some Dept Navy suits & sunglasses show up at your door

I was thinking more of a safe slightly radioactive marked Tusgenka (spelling?)

Feb 17, 2009 15:33:43 also, what I had totally forgotten about, are model railroad hobby shops. There are a variety of scales to choose from and there are a plethora of settings accessories to be had. You can also get basic terrians in the form of textured paper and feature kits. There won't be alot of action features to choose from, but this stuff serves as a great base to build from.
