| #1grakargApr 04, 2012 1:03:50 | For the last couple of d20 Modern campaigns and adventures I've ran, healing has been problematic. The 1d4 from treat injury and 1hp per level per night just haven't been enough to cut it and I've been toying with other ways to make the game more playable. It always seemed like after 1-2 fights when exploring an area, the party would have to stop and rest for a week. Of course, its solved with magic or futuristic machines to take care of it, but these are absent from my modern day campagin. Is there a way to add healing surges ala 4e into modern that is still balanced? Or should I add +con modifier to nightly healing/treat injury checks? I'm going to fire up a new campaign in a few weeks (starting at lvl 1) and the party won't have access to magical healing. I expect to have plenty of lvl appropriate combat, but I don't want to get bogged down in constant heals. Any suggestions or tricks you've found useful? |

Although the surgery takes 1d4 hours +1 hr for every point of damage below 0 hp, and fatigued for 24 hours -2 hrs for every point above the DC 20 check. So you could spend one day resting and have everyone healed if they use the full bed rest option. What you could also do is someone has more than 5 ranks in Treat Injury, with a medical kit, for every 5 points over the Treat Injury DC (15) heals an extra 1 hp per hour of rest. Sure, not a big boost, but that's 8 extra hp they heal for resting. Maybe a feat for someone who's going to be the group's healer.. how about this.. Healer You're exceptionally skilled at healing others. You know more than most people, but not quite as much as field medics, but you're the next best thing. Prequisites: Treat Injury 5 ranks Benefit: When you use the Treat Injury skill to restore hit points, you heal extra hit points equal to your Wis modifier. |

You could also grab the improved natural healing feat, combine with long term care and full bed rest you can recover alot of hp, I always include in my builds, unless I'm playing a stealthy. That maybe your other option, don't take the enemy's head on. My groups don't so I have to set traps and ambushes, to even injure them. If any of my groups ran an encounter head on they'd die quickly, between machine gun nest cross fire and snipers. Btw remember if its not DictatorTek your nor killing enough enemys. |

So there is always this "myth and rumor" of how there is techonology in advanced science and health out there but wont be introduced to the public for years... we decided that characters were given health stimulates and they were able to take these one shot wonders and it would "heal" 6 points of damage and they could use these as needed. Catch was it only could be used in a 24 hour time period, otherwise they would fall into a deep sleep so the body could repair. We basically called it the Jack Bauer shot, and our adventures would happen over a 24hour period. Yeah... I know its not the greatest thing, but hey, it keep the game going and we had fun. I think that is the most important thing in gaming. Not worrying about rules. |

Second what PL is your campaign set in Snag things from other things like video games and books and give them a base stat for healing x amount of damage for x rounds Bio-gel from Mass Effect Bio-foam from HALO that seals wounds and allows the soldier to keep fighting Nano based healing or One Shot Bio-Nanites that once injected heal x amount of damage.... Nano-Sutures for sealling up those nasty cuts and gouges.... in injections and spray forms Left 4 Dead had Pain Pills and shots that healed x amount of damage for x rounds Stimpaks, Buffout, Jet Med-X from the Fallout universe |
