| #1smiterJul 25, 2011 15:02:54 | There may need to be some form of reconciliation between d20 Future and d20 Apocalypse. In Future, the starship weapon "nuclear missile" deals 16D8 damage. The weapon's description says that it's a 1 megaton (mt) device. In Apocalypse, a 1mt nuke vaporizes everything within a 500 yard radius and somewhat less damage, in varying degrees, out to 5 miles. Now, does the above rolled or suggested average damage of 72 get applied to non spaceship things? Does this mean that a 6 HD spaceship (with 120 hp) with alloy plating armor (hardness 20) can survive a 1mt nuke? Or a 7 HD ship with 140 hp and no armor? Considering that 6 and 7 HD vessels tend to be among the small(er/est) vessels according to the rules and are likely to be less than 500 yards in length (and therefore if one of these nukes goes off within 1-3 starship spaces would technically be within the nuke's fireball). Any suggestions, comments? |

I'll consult my Modern Military Vehicles for anything later first the missile in the two listed books shall we say is a strategic tactical munition, Large, designed to take out groups of enemy soldiers without fully destroying the target city or industrial area that the enemy has bunkered down in. Now if my sizing isn't wrong... a huge nuclear missile similar to those found in boomer subs, cruise missiles, and etc A gargantuan for those mobile missile launch pad trucks in Russia And colossal for nuclear missile should be right for something found in Nuclear missile silos lets also try to figure out how much radiation is released for contamination of the area and anyone caught within |

A couple KT tac-nuke is a toaster, a medium tac is luggage, small strategic(citykiller) is a dishwasher big stategic (metrokiller) is a compact car iirc, the bigmac 8" tac-nuke arty shell was 10kt, and the Davey Crockett was dial-a-nuke from 20T to 0.5kt Damage: Variable: 20Ton Nuke (what would 20lb TNT do? 20d6?... now 2000x that) |
| #8smiterAug 29, 2011 21:25:53 | And what about that fusion mine? 5D100, affects the 500' square it's in plus all adjacent 500' squares. I wonder what the yield is for that... I think I'll use the Flechette ammo gadget to effectively simulate a MIRV ;) Say, does anyone have a guess as to the weight of a 1 mt nuke? That'll determine how many I can load into a B-52 BUFF! "I don't want to set the world on fire!" (excerpted from a song I heard in Fallout 3). |
| #9backstabbistSep 04, 2011 20:10:29 | I assume you are asking about the PL6 1mt nuke from starship weapons. Consider the game has all the ship missles being the same size, and that size is a rack of 8 can fit on a 32' Gargantuan AssaultFighter (along with 2 other Gargan weaponsystems) so just how small are we having to consider the PL6 Ship Missiles to be? And thats racks of 8 whole missiles, the Zoom as well as the Kaboom parts. So the actual kaboom part of that pl6 shipmissile is not that big, look at the warheads of f14/15 Sparrow missiles as comparable size / application (but atmo not space) |
