| #1eazy_eApr 22, 2010 23:03:05 | Hey Guys, I keep looking through my d20 book for the benefits of optics and I can't find them...any of them. I only ask because I have a sniper who doesn't know what his scope is for and a rifleman whose ACOG is just extra weight. I seemed to recall that the Sniper Scope will negate any negative modifiers out to 4x range, if aimed for a whole round. Is this correct? I have ran the rifle that way and it has worked out fine and dandy, we are both happy with this. As for the rifleman we have just running his ACOG as 'flash'. I'm not happy with this and neither is he. I was think his ACOG I could do the same thing, more or less. It would only go out to 2x range. Is this ok? My PCs are all Delta Force and go against enemies with similar weaponry, so the ACOG would be a two way street. I intend to run the ACOG this way until I see the results or if one of you posters enlighten me. Thanks, Rich EDIT: Well I found the page in the d20 Modern book (120 pdf), about 10seconds after I posted it. The rules say a scope increases the range increment of a weapon 1.5x I'm not sure if I like this rule, and am considering keeping it the way we have agreed, but I will talk it out with my PCs. |

I'm pretty sure Animesniper or one of the other walking archives will swoop in pretty soon with it, though. My most recent rules for 'sniper' scopes and ACOG Scopes are these. Magnified Scope (top): Quadruples range increment, but requires a full-round action to shoot unless supported (by a bipod or other means). In addition, all attacks made with this weapon against a target within ½ of the first range increment now take a -4. ACOG Scope (top): Quicker and easier to use than normal magnified scopes, but slightly less effective. Increases range increment to 1.5 normal (this stacks with [Improved] Far Shot, but applies before and is not calculated when determining the bonus from [Improved] Far Shot) |
