Been a long time since I've posted on this forum, or played d20modern...

Need a rule clarification. My group is using the Modern Players companion and one PC is wanting to use "Cross training" TWICE to increase his STR and CON by +2 each and decrease his WIS and CHA by -2 each.

My question is whether this is allowed by the rules. I reviewed the "stacking" section of d20 modern and there is nothing about this. I just want to make sure before I let him take this feat twice.

Rules like this are usually covered in the text of the feat. If a feat doesn't say it can be taken multiple times, it can't be. If a feat says it can, then it will say what the conditions of stacking are (IE: "The effects do not stack, but you can choose a different -whatever- to apply it to" or "The effects stack.")

If it says the feat can be taken multiple times and doesn't define how... blame the writer for being writing horribly and interpret it as you like.

Effects of the same Type dont stack unless spcified that they do.
That is deffinately applied to taking the same thing repeatedly.
I havent read that "CrossTraining", but I figure it doesnt specificly say you can take it twice. Also, the flavor text might make doing it twice infeasible.

The question isnt if this SelfStacks,
its Why would this self stack if similar things dont stack in Modern

I suggest you start leaving books & web browsers open to WIll Save things GMs can do to players. Also, be sure to work on your NPC speech for the guy... such as "Get lost ElephantMan", "We dont serve your kind", and other sundry unfriendly encounter chitchat.

Dont forget to have lots of Puzzle Traps, and searches of offices that ElephantMan can blow.

There's often a grey area with feats, though, because the bonuses they grant are sometimes "untyped," and untyped feats implicitly stack, if I'm not mistaken. So the first answer is really the right one: check the text of the feat carefully. It'll say if you can stack it.

I own the book in question and the feat Crosstraining does not say that it can be taken more than once, so it can't
