| #1backstabbistMay 05, 2009 6:26:45 | What are range bands? Is that like saying M16a1: 0-500' Close, 501'-1600' Far -5 ? My 303SMLE has sight marks to 1100y, so 0-1000' Close, 1001'-3300' Far -5? Or does the 303SMLE get 0-50' Close, 51-3300 Far -5 ? What would Range Bands to be for an AK47? We know the formula for RI is 0.66xMaxEffRange/10, what is the formula for getting Range Band numbers? |
| #2DwarfFighterMay 05, 2009 7:01:15 | I have no formula. Range bands: Minimum to Point-blank/Short/Medium/Long Penalties: +0/-2/-4/-8 I'd like to see a range-band definition based on the type of weapon rather than the specific weapon: all pistols can use the same range band, smg's use another range band and so on for assault rifles, shot-guns etc. I know you're probably going to throw up in your mouth a little, but here goes: Range-bands don't have to be an exact match with the real-world weapon. This is because the game system mechanics are all only an approximation of the real-world physics. -DF |

| #4RagitsuMay 05, 2009 13:42:51 | Is this based off of how Star Wars: SAGA edition handles it's ranged weapons ? |
| #5TheRealOrionMay 05, 2009 15:13:04 | I'll take you one step further: generic weapon stats. The fun part of having a S&W .44 is that you get to say "Hey, look! I have Dirty Harry's gun. Aren't you crapping yourself now?" The exacts stats are just there to create a concrete consequence within the story. I posted my generic stats here a while ago, but if you're interested, they're in Chapter 7 of Phoenix (check out my sig). |
| #6backstabbistMay 05, 2009 22:44:08 | but what is the range band of a 45pistol or AK47? and what function do we use to generate that number set? |
