| #1peacereaperJan 01, 2009 16:01:11 | For my Dark*Matter Campaign, I was thinking of having it focus on the players trying to stop Hitler, back from the dead, from world dominance. It turns out he faked his suicide (since none of the records actually prove he died) and escaped to somewhere. He died soon after of some disease (I have yet to work that part out). There were two possibilities for Hitler still being alive (since he'd be, like, over 100 by now). One, CLONES! But, thinking that was a little to cliche, I figured he could have been turned into a sand slave and kept alive and young by nanites. Now, the question is, can they do that? I know it's my game and I can do what I want, but what are you guys's thoughts? |
| #2AnimeSniperJan 01, 2009 16:12:32 | What PL are you basing this at? But here is what I have: Experimental Cryonic/Cryostasis... Hitler shot himself or was it poison... anyways, a group of hardline Nazi generals and scientists managed to get his body when the attempt failed and the allies found his bunker. They took his body to one of the secret installations to preserve the body and now after reviving him through experimental cloning or curing him he is found to be re-amassing his forces for the III World WAR |
| #3peacereaperJan 01, 2009 16:52:08 | What PL are you basing this at? Uhh... I think PL means Player Level...? In that case it would be first. What you said is like what I found on Wikipedia. In a book called The Boys from Brazil, Joseph Mengele and Hitler plan before his death to make several clones using a pint of Hitler's blood. Then Mengele recreates Hitler's boyhood by killing all of the fathers of the Hitler infants. One of them eventually turns into the Hitler we know from history in the 21st century. I was thinking about doing something like that, where he tries to take out all humanity besides his few "chosen people" by hiding in a protected bunker and causing a nuclear apocalypse. He decides to do this after the players foil his original plot of starting WWIII. |
| #4shinobi_guyverJan 01, 2009 17:45:50 | In this instance, PL means "Progress Level." He was asking what technology is available so as to make a better suggestion. Having Hitler as the BBEG, what level do you expect your players to be when they reach him? As it stands, I like the experimental cryostasis idea. Either that or one of the Nazi experiments involving alien technology when wrong (after all, there are tons of rumors about Nazi experiments involving alien tech, even today). Realizing how the war was going, Hitler decides to activate a highly experimental piece of alien technology. The device backfires, trapping Hitler in a small pocket dimension where he doesn't need to eat, sleep, or age. In the present (or very near future) someone (a Nazi sympathizer, Nazi descendant, whatever) finds the old Nazi experiment hidden away and after careful study, tries to reactivate the device. In doing so, they release Hitler from captivity. After learning about how the world is, Hitler decides there is no better time to recreate his Third Reich. |
| #5AnimeSniperJan 01, 2009 17:46:52 | PL is Progression Level i.e. current real life tech is PL5 Information, Fusion PL6, PL 7 Gravity, PL 8 Energy, and PL 9+ you would have watches powered by Nano-black holes... there's a book about cloning Hitler which is deja vu on my part since I have a campaign arc where the PC's are required to acquire a teenager who is a combination or combinative clone, experimental, of several key figures in Earthen History by a shadowy group yet unnamed... Alexander, Stalin, etcetera and the kid knows it and is to lead an armada against earth. |
| #6nclancemanJan 01, 2009 18:49:25 | For my Dark*Matter Campaign, I was thinking of having it focus on the players trying to stop Hitler, back from the dead, from world dominance. It turns out he faked his suicide (since none of the records actually prove he died) and escaped to somewhere. He died soon after of some disease (I have yet to work that part out). The man was actually dying of Neurosyphilis anyway, you could use that. If Hitler had been turned into a Sandman, keep the "alive" part and forget the "young" part. Slowed aging, maybe, but not young. He'd be too recognizable. Maybe if he was as old as... whatshisname. That guy that's been on The Young and The Restless for the past eternity. As a matter of personal preference, I hate it when nanomachines are used as code for "MAGIC!". Secondly, if he was co-opted, he'd probably be one of the most heavily guarded Sandmen in existence; while it's never been clear what the Etoile want, Adolf Hitler would've been close to getting damn near everything. An interesting avenue to uncover is how exactly Hitler became a Sandman. Perhaps the SS found and subdued an Etoile, which got loose when the Russians came down on Berlin. The Sandman description in the Alternity Dark*Matter book mentions that a few doctors are trusted to administer Sandman nanites to unsuspecting victims... maybe Joseph Mengele could be one? |
| #7backstabbistJan 01, 2009 19:09:16 | I'm gonna suggest another take on how The Big H (A-Dog to his posse) is still alive & young: Transdimentional Temporal Skew When ADog saw the end of his shot at world domination was coming up fast, he, like so many others over the eons, tried to cut a deal with the devil. It was ADog's fortune (or misfortune) that the devil was in town and still sore over a FiddleContest loss. So a quick negotiation and signing brought an end to the material plane existance of ADog and began his decades of tortuous transformation & apprenticeship. When you dabble in the occult sometinmes the occult dabbles back. Now, after decades of material plane time has passed, We see the return of the new & improved Hitler from the hellish dimention where he didnt age. What new dark occult powers did ADog pick up from his time off plane? I bet your players have no idea and are way unpreapared for them. Firstly: No, he cant fly or do obvious attention getting garbage that would draw rapid & extreme response from authorities. Divinations & Dominations along with some limited scope document doctoring can make solving this infestation of nazis a real pain for the players. Whats worse than having a Hitler manipulating the world? Having a SuperHilter manipulating the world. |
| #8peacereaperJan 01, 2009 19:37:15 | OK, the PL would pretty much be like today's technology, except the Nazi party has some alien technology which may allow them to do...weird alien things. That's pretty much all I got. NCLanceman, I'm not worried too much about being able to recognize him. He's underground, hiding from investigative forces. You also mentioned a thing about finding out how he became a sandman. The players work for the Hoffmann Institute (Dark*Matter), so I was planning on having them do one of the first investigations on the sandmen. Maybe as they learn more and more about these guys, they learn that Hitler himself (or at least some resemblance to him) is a sandman. About Joseph Mengele...maybe he could have been one of the first rogue sand slaves, and knowing Hitler's oncoming death of Neurosyphilis, decided to transfer his nanites to him. Since the sandmen turn into, well, sand when they are confronted, maybe Hitler could have clones too. When one of his clones disintegrates, the nanites move to a new clone that's kept in stasis. The plot thickens... Both that idea and that of Backstabbist's sound good to me. After he gets out of that dimension thingus, maybe Hitler could be like a demon kinda guy that can control minds or something. I promised my players zombie Nazis initially, so maybe he can create stuff like that. Thanks for your ideas, guys. |
| #9AnimeSniperJan 01, 2009 20:02:31 | On the note of zombie Nazi's, they could be the original remains of one of the scientists failed experiments at creating Super Soldiers codenamed 'Serum' or something that was to strengthen the basic Nazi soldier with enhanced strength/etcetera but was deemed a failure as it killed the test soldiers before the laboratory was abandoned during the Allied march from Normandy... most of the scientists could have assumed civilian identities by marrying Nazi sympathizers and a descendent has notes/journals on the experiments and the location of the lab... could even introduce non-earth tech as a part.. Upon opening the lab Hitler finds loyal zombie soldiers who remember him as their fuhrer but no higher brain functions. |
| #10backstabbistJan 01, 2009 20:23:39 | might even try ADog is reaping souls for his dark knowlege master, kinda like paying off your student loans.... but sick & wrong. He sends souls south and gets to control the shell, assuming he is ripping out the psychic energies of folks while still alive. That process, while atrociously horrid for the rippee, leaves a body that hasnt "died", so a quick trip to Wardrobe for some Tan&Oldschool and we get ZombieNazis How long before ADog realizes he needs to take over the Heckler/Glock/Rhinemetel plants? How long till the players realize ADog will realize this? How long till The Big H realizes that he players realized that he realized it? The only one that is going to know what is realy going on is the players contact/informant NPC that actually has a secret Hitlic alliegency.... dont let the players figure this out till they have done several missions for that informant, so they can start to put together the peices of the puzzle that they have helped SuperHitler for many missions. Of course, the way you could eventually have the mole exposed is by having a different NPC tell the players. This of course is another Hitlic NPC that is eliminating the first to establish a heavier trust by the players. This of course brings up the interesting gaming situation of when the henchmen for the BigBadGuy are not given the big picture, or think they are not working for the BBG. A SenseMotive check will show the henchman is honestly not working to kill the VIP, he thinks he is protecting some orphange from a "corrupt" VIP.... when in fact the BBG had a middleman trick/setup the henchman to shoot the VIP which in turn furthers the BBG Master Plan of Unspeakable Evil (its Untypable too so I cant post it) |
| #11AnimeSniperJan 01, 2009 20:53:30 | Could zombie Nazi's use weapons cause after I posted I had this image of group of zombie Nazi's packing HK G36's and unconsciously firing erraticly... Just remembered that T-virus zombies well a variant could fire MP5's as stated in one of the S.D. Perry books |
| #12peacereaperJan 01, 2009 21:10:12 | Well, AS, I like your idea of the Uberman experiment gone wrong. The soldiers turned into zombies as a result, but because of all the crud they injected them with and all that, they're highly advanced Nazi zombies (I'll try and stat these). They're tougher, stronger, and yes, Victoria, they can use guns. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Backstabbist, let me see if I can paraphrase what you're saying. The guy who's giving the PC's missions is actually working for Hitler. He's trying to lure them into some kinda trap or something. Then this other guy working for Hitler kills the first guy and reveals that the first guy was in fact working for Hitler, just to gain a bond of trust that he's trying to help the PC's, even though he's working for Hitler. ![]() Do I have this right? |
| #13peacereaperJan 01, 2009 21:56:43 | The Uber Zombies (statting in progress) will use MP-38's, as statted by Tema69.MP-38 (9x19mm Submachinegun) |
| #14backstabbistJan 01, 2009 22:24:15 | Correct. The handler/contact/informant is actually working for Hitler. Then later, someone the team meets tells them. This new guy thinks he is doing the team a favor and is stopping Hitlers plans by killing the nazi spy. What this new guy doesnt know is that the source of HIS information is a nazi spy, tricking the new guy into thinking what he is having the players do is stopping the nazis... when in fact the tasks the new guy is giving the team is slowly assembling the supporting parts of the Master Plan of Unspeakable Evil. Example: The team gets told there is a university scientist that is working on ZombieJuice that makes zombies so twitchy that they get a +2 Def Bonus. Naturaly the team will want to kill the crud out of this guy before the ZombieJuice can get fully developed. But what really is happening is that this new contact was actually Disinformed and tricked into having the team kill the coworker of the guy really developing the ZombieJuice, in a nazi effort to prevent anyone close to the developer discovering what is going on. If the players do a sense motive on this new informant, they will find that he is honestly having them fight against nazis & zombies... because that informant has no idea that the info against the target was a trick to protect the evil university guy really making the Juice. It gets even more fun if the players sense motive the target. They will find the target honestly says he is working on childrens vitamins. Assuming the players dont kill him, wait a few gaming nights and then in some fight with zombies present have the badguys let it leak (interogate?) that they are using some ZombieJuice developed at the university. The players will start to wonder if they were wrong to not kill "the vitamin guy" they discoverd the target to honestly be. Sure the leek is actually talking about the evil coworker, but the uninformed mook henchmen dont know about there being 2 guys at the university nor do they know the name of the guy or even that the team was sent to kill anyone at the university. When BigBadGuys keep the henchmen uninformed and Disinformed, the players wont know up from down or right from wrong.... lots of fun to have them attack the "nazi cloning center" that is actually just some orphanage holding a baby of some poor sap being extorted by TeamEvil without knowing it. Players kill the innocent child and a bunch of innocent orphanage workers as unwitting enforcers for Team Evil.... all the time believing they are doing good & fighting evil. Maybe its just me, but I really love tricking paladins into committing warcrimes with disinformed evil henchmen leaking honest tricks. OF COURSE zombies can use submachineguns, thats what spray & pray AUTOFIRE is for. Zombies also make excelent Grenade Delivery Systems and teargas dispensers. The threat with zombie firemen aint the axe, it when a bunch of guys discharge CO2 extinguishers at once in a medium or smaller room. Well, that is only a threat to folks that have to breath oxygen, so it all all bad news. |
| #15AnimeSniperJan 01, 2009 22:40:02 | The Uber Zombies (statting in progress) will use MP-38's, as statted by Tema69. So I gues you have his list of WWII errata from him... |
| #16peacereaperJan 01, 2009 23:33:35 | Correct. Well, unfortunately, that relies a wee bit too much on the PC's acting a specific way. And my players are more shoot-first-ask-questions-later-minded than what this kinda thing requires. But I like the idea of the Zombie Juice thing and having them kill the coworker (though I might change the chemical name to something a little more...chemicallish). Wait, that last part of the quote wasn't there before. Messin' with my head... |
| #17peacereaperJan 01, 2009 23:36:15 | So I gues you have his list of WWII errata from him... Actually, I just found his post of it on another thread (I think it was the 1920's firearms post). |
| #18AnimeSniperJan 02, 2009 0:13:29 | From the copied doc files I Have his accessories, WW II weapons & Heavy Weapons, and his ammunition sheet for a total of 4 docs when he spoiler posted them in another discusion on the boards here... If you need them I have them as MS Word 07 doc format and can send them if you do via e-mail... |
| #19peacereaperJan 02, 2009 0:17:52 | From the copied doc files I Have his accessories, WW II weapons & Heavy Weapons, and his ammunition sheet for a total of 4 docs when he spoiler posted them in another discusion on the boards here... Yeah, those'll come in handy. I'll PM you my email really fast. |
| #20AnimeSniperJan 02, 2009 0:46:25 | I've sent all four docs so barring any technical problem you should recieve them shortly... |

| #22AnimeSniperJan 02, 2009 19:57:38 | Looks Good and bearing in mind you have a PL 5/6 tech base you could have NPC Neo-Nazi Party, those approached like your loyal A-dog informant could be packing the newer gear; HK G36s, Kevlar vests, etcetera at places of interests/targets of A-dog... and the zombies could be the private guard of each Sand Slave clone... and dying of Neurosyphillis A-dog could have had a cure, alien in structure that would cure him but it took several years to take full effect hence the temporal pocket dimension... Just tossing ideas... |
| #23peacereaperJan 03, 2009 12:03:08 | OK, I think I've got a bit on how the PCs get involved with this. The PCs are sent to West Virginia to investigate recent sightings of the Mothman. They encounter it a few times before learning about an abandoned nuclear power station a little past the city limits of Point Pleasant. When the PCs decide to go and give it a look, George Knight, head of Department-7, calls them back to headquarters. If the PCs refuse to listen, higher ranking Department-7 agents aid the PCs in fighting the guards stationed there, then capture the PCs and bring them back. The reason Knight sent them in the first place was to capture the beast and bring it back for research. The Mothman was the result of a chemical accident when a little boy was playing near the road outside of town. A truck was carrying chemical waste from the facility and tipped over on the road, spilling the toxic waste. It was getting late and the boy had caught a moth. He was running home to see his parents when he slipped on the toxic spill. The combination of chemicals fused the DNA of the boy and the moth, and the creature, losing all sense of sanity and control, flew off into the night. It would later cause the deaths of nearly 50 people as it lead to the collapse of the Silver Bridge during rush hour. George Knight is a double agent for the Nazi Party. Thanks to an alien device, called the Gilgamesh Apparatus, he is able to mask his true motives from the Hoffmann Institute's relentless testing. Thanks to a few Nazi hackers, he has cleared up his past records and information, appearing to lead a perfectly normal life. The abandoned nuclear facility is inhabited by Nazi scientists and soldiers. They have been performing genetic tests and research there since the early 90's. Knight knows about this facility and didn't expect the PCs to hunt the Mothman all the way there. The agents he sends have no idea about Knight's true motives. That's what the first big adventure's like. |
| #24peacereaperJan 04, 2009 14:23:00 | Well I ran the above adventure last night, and it was a success. The PCs met Joe, the manager of the Motel 8 and Mothman entusiast (best NPC ever), then they found him dead the next morning. They left the body there while they went searching for the Mothman. The police showed up with flares to help warn the Mothman off. The police wanted to go back to the hotel and ask Joe about all these recent sightings. Unfortunately, they found the body. The PCs were trapped in the lobby, so they decided to do some research on the Mothman. They read about one of the theories that the Mothman was a result of a chemical accident near the abandoned plant. So naturally, they broke through the window and escaped. On the way there, the head of Dep-7 (the Nazi guy) called them and told them that they were to turn back. A team more suitable for the mission was coming. Well, they didn't exactly listen, and they proceeded to the facility. They found some German guys there, and we had a fun little roleplaying thing where they were trying to pose as scientists. The other team showed up and helped kill the two guards. Then the other team tasered (or whatever you say) them and took them back to headquarters. I think we're off to a good start. |
