I was playing the shift flash game (http://armorgames.com/play/751/shift) the other day and it struck me as a good idea for a D20 Modern setting. The only problem that I can see is how to handle the multiple dimensions, but it could probably be fixed by either making a separate map or by changing all solids into gases. I think it could be fun if run like the game, portal where you're trying to escape and adding some enemies and traps. Call the ability to shift between dimensions a scientifically induced genetic mutation. Also playable after you get out of the lab as well.

But this is all opinion. For actual game stats:

Shift (Ex): A creature with this ability can shift to another dimension, known as the negative dimension, at will. This alternate dimension can be as dangerous as our native one and turns all solid things into gas and vice versa when you enter it or leave it. If someone with the shift ability attempts to shift into a solid space, then they are deposited in the nearest open space in the same condition they are now.

Grey Material: Some material exists in our dimension as well as the negative dimension, making it solid in both dimensions. By applying a strong electrical charge to it, you can destroy it. (This represents the checkerboard spaces in shift 2 and how to destroy them)

I'm a little strapped for time at the moment so feel free to be constructive

An... odd choice. Just to let you know, the idea for that game came from here - if you want to do this, some of the other mechanics on the list might inspire you.

Honestly, I fail to see how its that unusual, unless you are talking about how it would play.

A little disappointed in the lack of replies, but thats ok
