I think I asked this before a few months ago, but I can't find the post if I did. Does this game have sneak attack?

Nope. Massive Damage rules in d20M are such that Sneak Attack would result in Real Permanent Instant Death far too quickly. I've always thought that they should have replaced it with some kind of crippling strike, myself, in keeping with the vaguely realistic mode of Modern (as opposed to D&D).

Orion gave the short answer,
which is everything you need to know.

The longer answer, that has stuff you dont really need to know is:
Yes, but it is one of the most broken cheesball-cheats in the book.
Future has Tracer class, which (as part of its brokeness) has Sneak damage.
Since the Tracer class (like practicly everything in Future book) should be banned in your games, it dont really matterwhat makes it so broken

Tracer is meant to be run in Future games where the average weapon damage has gone up to ~2d10 or so for your compact pulse pistol.

Just a thought...

I've never looked closely at Future; is there a corresponding way to avoid
html_removed
constantly dying from that much damage?

The problem is the huge damage is commonplace,
and any obtuse ways around getting killed are not commonplace.
Future added AdCs, the basic hereo classes are still what you are stuck with for your first several levels.... several levels as a Fast or Strong or Smart in a world where street beggers have 2d10 pistols (or 2d6 museum pistols for some reasonYell)

I have another question. The last time we played we used the Menace Manual, and we got magic items. I really don't want any magic items*, but before I try to persuade the DM to toss them I would like to know if they are neccesary if the menace manual will be used.

*I figure if we are still using magic items we might as well just play D&D, not that anything is wrong with D&D. I just want to do something different before I go back to it.  Now if they are necessary I might be able to get the DM to change the DR to DR gold/silver/etc. If we need the stat boosters, and things that provide magical bonuses to armor I might be able to come up with an adjust progression chart for all the classes.

If you're going to use magical creatures, you'll need magic items. If you stick to realistic enemies, then you don't need them. Or so goes the theory.
