| #1enigma96Jan 18, 2009 23:53:04 | Hey everybody I've been away from these forums for quite awhile, back when they were, you know, an actual group of forums for d20, anyways bitterness and shock aside I've come back to these hallowed and overall civilized halls to draw upon your combined wisdoms, yes give me your brain is exactly what that means. Being away from modern for awhile, DnD and Battletech mostly, I decided to get back into it as a way of shaking things up with my group. I've decided to run a cold war drama using the aberrant d20 rules, superhero rpg basically, and I was wondering if you guys could critique the background story and help me with filling the world with interesting heroes. First the background (Head to the big title to get to my request) Throughout history their have been myths of extraordinary people and tales of horrific nightmares, although most have been extrapolated to an extent almost all of these instances involved real people, people who have erupted, Aberrant term for gaining powers. The history of this world is almost identical to ours up until the beginning of the 20th century. With the spreading of information via new media sources those myths and nightmares began to surface as realities. In terms of major historical events and outcomes basically all of them follow the events that occured in our reality with the exception that they were overtly or covertly achieved due to the efforts of various novas, Aberrant superhero. During the 20's and 30's the existence of novas became widespread as they took active roles in every day life around the world. In America pulp style heroes with minor powers fought mobsters, in Canada novas were dispersed amongst the RCMP to help stop smugglers, in Germany novas fought one another in support of the various factions vying for Germany's pride, in Russia novas crushed the Whites and all else who opposed the Red Army, etc. During WW2 novas took on a role similar to Captain America in that they became those rare heroes who led the various armies to vicotry. During this war the Germans used |
| #2enigma96Jan 19, 2009 3:25:05 | To help get your creative juices flowing here are the "big" characters that I created for the campaign. Человек из стали (Man of Steel), Vladilen Stalin 1.Entire body made of an incredibly malleable but excessively durable metal alloy that can withstand nuclear blasts 2.EXTREME amount of physical strength (Think angry Superman/ normal Hulk) 3.Regenerative qualities to the point that body parts can be quickly regrown Stern, ruthless, ambitious, and very observent of the world around him. He is quite confident in most situations and is rare to anger, in the furious foaming at the mouth sense. Personally cares for noone but Зевс (Zeus) but is capable of respecting people who show courage and/or strength. Ruthless and dictatorial just like his father, Stalin, Vladilen believes that the strong are the only ones who deserve power and as such the only ones fit to rule, since power is necessary to rule. Vladilen uses communism as a medium through which he may remain in power, he in fact hates the true ideals of communism. He is loyal only to his comrades within the Красная Армия (Red Army) and the Красная звезда бригады (Red Star Brigade)- More on factions in next post. He sees the rest of Russia and its inhabitants as mere resources that he may spend so as to achieve and maintain power. Vladilen appears as a man in perfect physical form, by russian standards not greek standards so he is a little bulkier muslce wise than the greek perfect form which is more all round, whose skin has a metallic shine to it, upon closer inspection one would notice that it is in fact metal. He has no body hair whatsoever and, from a view standpoint, has no discernible genitals or outstanding body features, i.e. no nipples, birth marks, *****, etc. He wears no uniform and carries out his days in the "nude", again not too big of an issue due to the previous remark. Level- Godlike красная угроза (The Red Menace), Atomisk 1. Can create, control and exert titanic amounts of energy, so much so that his whole body is made of it, though he may take a human form if he wishes. 2. Has an infinite reserve of energy within him as more is contantly being produced by his body. Is therefore capable of fighting endlessly as he never runs out of energy and never tires physically, though mentally he tires like most novas do. 3. Can fly due to the expenditure of energy 4. Can become very strong due to an expenditure of energy into his various "muscles" A rather laid back sort of guy who almost exumes indifference, think one of those cool guys in movies who doesn't say much but just hangs out, Atomisk is generally very calm and self absorbed but he has been known to become quite talkative and hyper, especially around people that he intimately knows. Atomisk generally cares little for others but is willing to go the extra mile to protect those who sees as innocent from immediate death, i.e. he would stop the homeless man from being crushed but wouldn't think twice about letting the man freeze to death out in the open. At heart he is very childish and hates losing. A believer in True Communism Atomisk completely hates the faux communism that Stalin created but, due to his general uncaring for things, doesn't really do too much about it. Despises capitalism, but not necessarily democracy, as much as he hates Stalinism. Shows a disdain for most ideologies wherein rule is absolute and the proletariat is at a disadvantage. Loyal to Russia, mostly because he was born there and sees signs of the ideals he supports in the everyday Russian worker. Has no deep friendships or connections with anyone and cares little about anyone in particular except himself. His "skin" is a deep crimson flicker marked with lighter and darker patches depending on the energy flow at the time. His eyes are large white patches of energy where his eyes should be and he has no visible mouth, but is capable of making overt mouth actions such as a sharp toothy grin. His body shape is that of a rather lanky average height male and he shows no signs of any muscles. His "hair" is likened standard everyday hair that has been given a minor static charge and stands on end and drags slightly to the back. (For a good reference look up atomsk, energy form, from the anime Fooly Cooly. The short looking energy kid with a guitar is him. This character is mannered alot after him, so you should be able to understand the description better after seeing the original.) Level- Godlike |
