| #2backstabbistMay 22, 2009 8:45:14 | welcome to the Modern abused stepchild corner You hang around here long enough and you get used to stuff like bad links, no updates, no product, no playtesting/editing, no official erratta |
| #3penchantMay 22, 2009 12:40:07 | Yeah, remember that scene in The Neverending Story when all that was left was the Ivory Tower standing on a chunk of ground floating in space? That's us, right now... and we've already lost the bathrooms. |
| #4narukagamiMay 22, 2009 13:44:18 | Hey, at least we got moderator attention again. ![]() |

| #6narukagamiMay 22, 2009 14:09:36 | :raincloud it's not the same as having Sith around Yeah it is, the only difference is the temper tantrums and name-calling is being done by people other than the WizO. ![]() |
| #7backstabbistMay 22, 2009 14:26:13 | oh snap! |
| #8walrusskippyJun 10, 2009 23:57:26 | oh snap! Crackle pop, rice krispies! |
| #9Master_VegaJun 11, 2009 0:08:08 | Crackle pop, rice krispies! We're not allowed to mention that IP on these forums. Kelloggs is really stingy about copywrite, especially when it comes to their Krisps material. |
| #10trappedsliderJun 11, 2009 1:36:26 | you know what we need a good argument about the wealth system vs tracking cash:P |
| #11TheRealOrionJun 11, 2009 2:33:33 | We do seem to get a flurry of activity after a flame war. Hey Backstabbist, uh, guns suck! Grrr! |

| #15narukagamiJun 11, 2009 13:11:14 | d20 Future is a well written and well thought out suppliment, and is perfectly balanced. |
| #16backstabbistJun 11, 2009 21:59:20 | Future Wealth 4e !!!!! Oh, I get it. You guys are just trying to see who can get my head to explode. |
| #17RagitsuJun 14, 2009 2:28:39 | The sad thing is I remember "the good old days" when we discussed the NEW RELEASE of d20 Dark Matter . |
| #18nclancemanJun 14, 2009 2:39:26 | Oh, I get it. Is it working? Because I was thinking that we could take a stroll through the Gadgets section of d20 Future and see what horrible, horrible things one would have to do to a Desert Eagle to make in deal 16d8 damage. You know, the correct amount of damage a typical nuclear warhead deals. Double bonus if we can add a katana bayonet that would do the same thing. Not that it would matter, your average leather jacket can deflect the whole thing. Tunnel Snakes rule! |
| #19backstabbistJun 14, 2009 23:08:38 | "ExposiveAmmo Gadget" a Nuke for 16d8+1d8 ![]() |
| #20psininjaJun 15, 2009 21:36:24 | Most 1337 sniper weapon EVER 1. Take the main cannon from a M1A2 Abrams tank, add Compact and Miniaturized gadgets to make it about the size of a 9mm pistol (small). Then, add the extended range, improved hitting power, and collapsible gadgets. 2. Get ammo with extended range and improved stopping power. You know have a small hangun that can crank out 12d12 points of damage with a range of over two miles (12,000'). You can hide it under your shirt and even if a guard finds it they'd have to pass a DC 17 Knoweldge: technology check to know its a weapon and not your lucky collection of metal bits. Size: small Damge: 12d12 Range Increment: 1200' Magazine: 1 internal Throw in the Quick Reload and Far Shot feats for even more fun. For extra credit, try to convince your DM to let you put a suppressor on it. Of course, I really want somebody to stat the superlaser from the Death Star. Why? Well, since even the most massive objects in any d20 game would be colosal, miniaturizing and compacting it would make it large. (colosal >gargantuan >huge > large). Just the right size the slip under a trench coat. Crazy enough? |
| #21TheRealOrionJun 15, 2009 21:50:31 | I have a question. I've seen the Gadget system from d20F mocked a lot for it's infinite breakability. I've also seen d20F mocked for its supposedly underpowered damage curve, basically that futuristic weapons should do a lot more damage than they do. Does Point The First address Point The Second? I haven't bothered reading all of Future because every person I talk to says "don't bother," so forgive me if this is a stupid question. PS: for Phoenix, I invented a new size category, "ginormous." Not Death-Star sized, but still bigger than colossal. |

I've also seen d20F mocked for its supposedly underpowered damage curve, basically that futuristic weapons should do a lot more damage than they do. Actually no, it breaks the logic even further. Applying gadgets to modern weapons will make them vastly more powerful than any future weapon... so why is anyone even bothering to make the future weapons? Why are they not focusing their efforts on making 12d12 guns that can shoot 2 miles without a penalty cheaper when they clearly have the technology? Technology improves exponentially, so why is it taking a step back here? |

Technology improves exponentially, so why is it taking a step back here? I would think that applying Gadgets is, in effect, how you get future weapons, no? I mean, take a Saturday Night Special and add gadgets like (making this up because I haven't read Future): energy-based, miniaturised, and extended range. Voila, we've just built a phaser. Now Star Fleet just outfits all its people with that Gadgetted-up sidearm. At least, that's the concept as I see it. But like I said, I'm trying to understand the problem, not argue that that problem doesn't exist! |
| #25trappedsliderJun 16, 2009 2:13:46 | Later i'll go step by step with a weapon applying the gadget system.... |
