Its apparent now that booster packs will become run of the mill in the coming months and years for RPG products. Gamma World could be justified because of mutations. But D&D? Come on !

I'll look elsewhere for my RPG needs...

I love how wotc finds new ways to make money off peoples lack of imagination, and their ability to turn everything into a collectable card game. I'll be sure to ignore all future products they produce until they're ready to apologize for the incomplete d20 modern books they just shoved out without even proof reading them.

Here's a little trick for the cheep DM, buy a package of note cards, write an ability on them, give them to players for exceptional deeds or quality role playing. More personalized, more relevant to your own campaign, and doesn't cost you an arm and a leg to try keeping ahead of outdated material. I give my players a card good for one true wish on their birthdays, some waste them, others wait for just the right time and use it for something special.

Stuff like this makes me pine for the days that DM's would make their own deck of many things, and when it got pulled out, it gained the attention of all the players who waited in awe and horror, not truly knowing what it would do next.

Don't get me wrong, cool idea, I'm just a little tired of wotc constantly coming out with something new they want you to buy. I have a player who spends way to much money on this kind of stuff and expects that because it's a wotc product it should be allowed by the GM without question. I already have to strike this player with lightning every other game or so for arguing with me about it and the little line in the book that says, “DM's word is law,” doesn't really seem to sink in for long.
