Hello.

This seemed to be the most appropriate forum to ask this in, so I'll provide some background first. I've been tapped to run a relatively short-term campaign of the long lamented Stargate SG-1 RPG from Alderac. Now, whilst the rules themselves aren't necessarily bad, we've just come off a lengthy 4th edition D&D game, whose streamlined and arguably simplistic rules are ones that I can come to terms with quite quickly.

The group as well are just seeking a bit of adventure and rapid-fire action, so a lot of my work is just getting a system that flows quickly and smoothly, and it'd be wise on my part to take advantage of the 4e system (apologies to lovers of 3.5 out there).

Could someone guide me or talk me through the mechanical changes I might need to make to 'convert' the ruleset over? I understand some of the basics; reducing ranges by a division of five, using squares for feet, attack bonuses equivalent to half the level plus class/weapon features and so on...but I'm unsure about Feats, Skills and Powers.

And apologies if this is an unwelcome thread, would be happy to be guided elsewhere.

Check out a game called Amethyst Foundations. It has just gotten released. It is a 4e Sci-Fantasy published by Goodman Games and written by the people at Dias Ex Machina. With a little house ruling it should be exactly what you are looking for.

Stargate, eh?  Well, you can create characters from our 4 modern classes offered.  Use our firearms and mess around with some advanced alien devices using our "Aliens $ Cowboys" chapter.  Given that most of the characters in Stargate are military, this would be an easy game to run using Amethyst.  The Operator class should fill in any need for nerd quotient (if you wanted to include a Rodney McKay or something).

Disclaimer:  I don't actually like SG-1, but I did enjoy Atlantis and I like Universe.
