URGENT! Need a quick side-adventure for a d20 Firefly campaign!

Our gaming group, of which I am DM, is running a Firefly-themed campaign based off the d20 Modern and d20 Future sourcebooks. We were planning on running an adventure I had prepared tomorrow night, but today two of the players bailed, so we're going to have to postpone. The other two players still want to play, though, and I'm happy to oblige. I just need a bit of help in coming up with a side-adventure for their two characters. The catch? When we ended the last adventure, they had just blasted off into space in their newly-purchased used spaceship. The next adventure starts when they reach their destination. So I need an idea for an adventure that takes place entirely on board the ship, and doesn't involve the other two characters. The captain is an NPC, so he can be involved, but I don't want to NPC the other two player characters. Here's what I've got so far:

- One of the two characters has a pet dog. The ship was bought used, so maybe the dog sniffs out a hidden compartment containing something...unusual.
- The reason the other two PCs aren't involved in this discovery is that they're asleep and the two PCs who are playing are on night watch or just haven't adjusted to the spacefaring time change yet.

I haven't figured out what they find. It has to be something cool enough that it makes for an exciting game, but incidental enough that they wouldn't feel the need to wake up the entire crew. Maybe something really embarassing happens to the two PCs, too, which would give them more reason not to tell anyone else about it.

I'd love it if anyone on the forums could chuck in some ideas. Anything helps, I just need to get my creative juices flowing, as I'm on a tight deadline for this one! Thanks!

Sep 16, 2011 2:51:43 1) ships sensors reveal that the dog has left a horrible mess somewhere and they have to find and clean it up. 2) Rats have gotten numerous on ship and captain assigns slingshots and tells crew to hunt them,small prize for most rats killed? 3) Something like "snakes on a plane' but with only one rattlesnake,a rattler is western enough for Firefly.

Sep 17, 2011 17:15:20 Remember Starwars where a computer generated peices that fought on a board? Create a sci fi chess board where the Pcs push pawns and such towards each other and roll dice to engage in mock combat?
