What damage would a jump jet's burners do?

A character swings a jet around so that the bad guys would exit the door right into the path of it's burners. My question to you is: how much, and what type of damage should they inflict?

Fire and Heat damage are the first things that come to mind... can't figure out the damage though... maybe consult the flamethrower and increase the dice number?
Reflex for those behind the first ones out to avoid becoming charcoal brickets, Half the damage roll...
All I have right now.

Off the top of my head, use flamethrower damage +50%, Increase Ref DC by 5 or 10.
Also, Knockdown would be applicable. Fort/Balance DC = Damage.

Wait, what kind of jet are we talking about here? The main engine of a Harrier? Iron Man's boots? That sled thing from Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull? Something else?

Hmmm... 4d6 Fire, DC 15 Reflex to avoid the hazard (if it's not intentional, or else it's a ranged attack), and DC 15 Reflex to extinguish. 2d4 Fire Damage per round until extinguished. Knockdown is automatic if it trips the Massive Damage Threshold.

I'd add a Pilot DC 15 check to align the plane correctly.
Comparing to the 3d6Fire, RedDC15 Half, 1d6continuousFire from the Flamethrower, I'd say:
4d6 Fire, DC 20 Reflex (the GM should determine how large an area depending on hovering height and angle), 1d6 Fire per round (I'd say the continuous damage should be equal to a flamethrower's). Target(s) must pass a Fort DC (damage received) or fall prone.

Perhaps it's the cinematic end of a chase scene, and the characters don't have enough time to whip around and gun down their enemies?

IMHO
you guys are focusing on the heat of the 400mph wind
more than the point that the wind is 400mph.

Have you seen the Mythbusters that had cars/busses/etc drive behind a jet plane? They got blown away without even singeing the paint by heat.

It looks like you guys are talking about modern Jet Turbine exhaust rather than some Rocket blast. Turbines take a while to spin up to reach afterburner, they would have to be already running and blowing really hard on the door before they can even think about going for blue mach diamonds out the pipe.

So that exit door would be screaming hot for a while before the afterburner scorch could think about roasting guys coming out. Effective as area denial, but nobody will be running into it unawares.... they would have to be running up the 400mph wind to get to the flamey part.

Additionally,
we all know that a car running in a close twocar garage will make that atmosphere unbreathable in a few minutes... and a jet planes exhaust will make a hallway/office unbreathable in a few miliseconds. It is like a poison gas grenade going off, 200 times a second, or like being on mars... its ok as long as your species doesnt have to respirate cause you cant do that here anymore.

IMHO we should look at modifying enviroment rules for the 200-400mph wind rather than flamethrower rules for the improbable situation of standing in the flamey part of the 400mph wind.
