I personally love using certain books with my Modern games so much I consider them part of d20 Modern collection.
The ones I use the most (and I almost think they shouldn't count as not d20 Modern):
Modern Player's Companion
Future Player's Companion
Martial Arts Mayhem
Ultramodern Firearms
The ones I use from other systems:
Unearthed Arcana (great for any d20 game)
Players Handbook (spells only)
Psionics Handbook (feats and powers only)
Monster Manual
Expedition to Castle Ravenloft (when used with d20 Modern I call it "Castlevania d20")
Call of Cthulhu d20 (the precursor to d20 Modern and a natural fit with Dark*Matter or Shadow Chasers)
Monte Cook's World of Darkness (this book actually gains more from the Modern books instead of the other way around, but the feats in this book are great additions to whats available in Modern)

Monte Cooks World of Darkness with very heavy houseruling. And then I use my Modern Books as supplements for that game. Great game.

The Blood & Guts Modern Military books
Spycraft
d20 Mecha Compendium Deluxe Edition
Modern Military Vehicles (Uses d20 Mecha rules to stat military vehicles :P)
Heavy Gear 3rd Edition Vehicle Companion (Dual-stats tons of vehicles and Gears from the Heavy Gear rpg with both the HGRPG rules and d20 Mecha rules. Though there are a lot of typos in the d20 statblocks.)

Among others...

Blood and Guts 2-General Edition
Martial Arts Mayhem/Blood and Fists combo system
Modern Player's Companion
Imperial Age-Faeries (got it and others as a GM's Day present; didn't like its use of racial class at first, but it has grown on me)
My homebrew urban fantasy PDFs (still a WIP at this point)
Blood and Relics (with the profane and sacred rituals converted to incantations)
Modern Magic (still my favorite Modern system purchase)
Blood and Time

As the basic "must haves" on hand for me. I have 60+ Modern system titles, and I don't think it would be possible for me to use them all in the very same game, so these are just the ones I use as the major focus.

Half my materials come straight from the internet. I hit Cooliris (the best image browser for firefox IMHO) for images and reference material. I use Fantasy grounds 2 for my online games along with Skype. And there are plenty of web resources including these boards for material, stats and writeups and new ideas.

However, in my bag are:

D20 Core
Modern Weapons Compendium by Palladium
My Big Binder of Crap

The truth is, my best stories are told without alot of builds, gear, fanfare or supplemental rules. Most of what a character needs is in the details and not in the bonuses. Besides.... its much easier to carry in a backpack.

Edit: that's not to say that I haven't used other books and don't own them. I have alot of books that I read once and just don't seem to come back to. They are all things that I'll put in a game "some day"

The d20 Modern rule book.

Oh, and a few feats from the Ultramodern Firearms guide is available, but none of the players want anything to do with those.

I use some of the stats from UMF and Weapons Locker (i.e. the ones that aren't screwed up beyond belief), but most of it comes from the Weird War II campaign setting, mixed with d20 Modern and a healthy dash of house-rules.

Generally, when I'm at a game:

d20 Core
Call of Cthulhu d20
Ultramodern Firearms/Weapons Locker

I'll add to it with:

d20 Apocalypse (depending on the rules)
Various other books like Blood & Relics.
