I think I'm the only one in town who kept his d20 Modern books. I don't know why, but there are books that catch my attention when I'm looking at my library half-full of RPG books. d20 Modern (with most expansion) is one of them. Legend of 5 ring books is a good color contrast with 4E books. And how can I forget my DnD 3.5 leather-covered books. Even with all the new games, I still attracted by d20 Modern.

So you guys still playin this old good game? What are you playin? Future, Apocalypse? Past? I want to know and if you can share what you like of this game.

I think d20 Modern is a great game, because of his potential. Just with the main book, you can do a James Bond game, a Buffy the Vampire game, or why not, play a Dr.House inspired game where the players must investigate medical problem. When you buy another book, you have x+1 possibilities. With past you can make a Pirate of the Caribbean game, or playing in the WWII where the nazi are use red dragons to conquer France. With Future, you can expend your game to space and time travel. Star Wars? Never heard of...why being stuck in a little galaxy with problems when an entire group of galaxies are at war! This game is just awesome. People told me that you can do anything you like with DnD. But with d20 Modern, you can play even more what you really want to play.

I'd be running a game right now if my entire RPG group (aside from me) wasn't tied up with school. >_>

I do plan to run a (near)Future game with my expanded advanced classes and altered FX when I visit my friend (and his friends) in ND. I'm told they're all looking forward to it, so I'm currently putting a lot of time into campaign prep. Since we have a very limited time, I'm running what is effectively "D-DAY IN SPAAAAAAAAACE!" to get them right into action... though the setting keeps on gaining depth each time I revisit it. I'm adding races, cultures, and all sorts of fun stuff they can delve into if they choose during the possible PbP spill-over.

I'm having a blast with game-creation and hope it'll be just as fun for my players.

D20 Modern is one of my favorite systems.

Our currently stalled game is a
More Beer variant: Southern Vets with corporate intrigue and weird-science R&D
Eventutally we WILL overcome the adversities and figure out the psudogovernment corporate shenanigans, to get the interstate beer distributer to ship to our redneck bar again.

Anyone up for a one shot play-by-post game on the board involving a group of Level 20 characters fighting off a Tarrasque?

Unfortunately, i'm not playing anything at the moment. One of the players in my group died (cancer, not rpg related), and the rest of the group just fell apart. I've been using WoW to lessen the RPG withdrawls for the last 2 years. It's a poor substitute.

Currently I'm in a bizzar Wild West game. The group consists of a realitivley effective gunsinger whose on the run from the james gang along with my character who is a drunken brawler that has convinced himself that he is an indian shaman. We also have a sword slinging saloon girl who is related to the other two players (sister and niece) who are hunting us. The two law men are a card playing TB inflicted... Hell its Doc Holiday but suckier and a tinkerer that is working his way towards the wild west equivalent of the unibomber. Theres no real story to the game at all so it boils down to oh no we almost got caught, but we didn't yay!!

I still have all the Modern book and will keep them «forever». My Modern «Rise of the Kinori» Apocalypse/Future campaign is on hold mainly throught my own fault. I've written myself into a corner, yet again !

These days we play D&D4E and SWSE. That doesn't mean I won't go back to Modern at some point but I fear 4E and SWSE have contaminated by brain enough that I may do extensive modifications to the game... Maybe Wotc will comes up with a Modern 2.0 before that.

Oh yeah lol. I exactly know what you feel lol. And no. Modern as been let behind. I suggest you create some rules yourself and post them on the Forum so that people can run them.

I had problem with SWSE. All player made a Jedi with Skill focus and most of them used Force Training to gain Move Object. They killed a Rancor boosted with Force Powers in 5 round.

Im currently planning a 4E game and I will take the Allegiance system of d20 Modern instead of Alignment of 4E.

English is not my mother tongue. It takes me forever to write something
decent.

That's sad. I'm blessed with a group of players who like the story over and above «minmaxing» or combos that kill the game.

I'm currently planning a 4E game and I will take the Allegiance system of d20 Modern instead of Alignment of 4E.

Now that's an idea... tks

Still playing it, still loving it. Currently DMing a heavily modified future, with plans for a weird post apocalyptic campaign (a little fallout, a little steampunk,) and a brutal urban arcana game.

Just started playing a sort of (grimdark) Rogue Trader-esque future campaign last night. Was very fun and I'm hoping we can play a few more times during spring break at least.

so far our story line is screwed up becuase we starting over (again) and one person hasn't started rolling her char yet, they rest i need to finish off with to make sure everything is good. so far a "fringe" science episode is what's gonna start them off. gonna be fun i hope.

not to be confused with my surname Pendragon
first name Uther

yes i know, i don't have the sword, i ain't a king, just had the misfortune of having a really weird name.

I'm currently running d20 Future on a weekly basis here in Milwaukee.

We are finding allot of issues with the rules, they aren't as polished so we adjust as needed. But the scope of technology and the flexibility to create diverse hi-tech environments is great.

I combine my game with astrosynthesis software to generate star systems...great software.

Man! I LOVE modern... LOVE IT. I play in many different games, but I run Modern exclusively. I'm currently running a PbP version of my Artifact Campaign over at Brilliant Gameologists--

Work has won over getting either of my two regular gaming groups back together... but eventually, I'd LOVE to start running my Black Isle campaign again!

Anyway... time to go pick up the roomie from work!

I so am like you in that I love d20 Modern and it's flexibility. I'd be running a game more often as well, if it was easier to find players in the area that liked it. I'm disappointed with D&D 4E, and SWSE is alright, but just so one sided, not as flexible as d20 Modern.

I have all the books, and I've currently reworked it to work well as a d20 Fantasy game, although I'm still working on Advanced Classes to cover most of the other things, other than magic.

I just love how it works well for all genre's, and it sucks that it's not being supported as much, except through the forums'. Anyway, keep playing d20 Modern, and who knows, it might make a comeback when we least expect it.

I'm actually playing in a really fun game. It started out as a late 50's fantastic conspiracy game but transitioned into a world-spanning psudo-modern piracy game.

It's kinda hard to describe, but right now we're working for human-like aliens that have us doing missions to get particular items, and having our plans very nearly literally blow up in our faces. It's pretty darn fun.

***Dang it's been a long time****

For the last few months I've forgotten about d20. I just saw a video of the game Stormrise (a not-so-great scifi RTS). Some of the mecha/creatures really made me itch to stat them up.

Honestly, is it possible to see this or this and not drool?

That, right there, is what I like about Modern. With a little time and effort, almost any action/suspense movie you see could be played on your kitchen table. See something cool in a movie, stat it up, play it a week later.

Sweet.

Playing in a few D20 games now. One is a modern game that (I think) takes place just before an end-of-the-world sort of disaster. For the most part the characters all grew up with each-other, aside from mine. I play Fitzgerald "Rattlesnake" Duchesne, a Louisiana-born Southern gentleman turned Arizona cowboy. His whole deal is that he loves two things: drinking and making trouble. "If there was ever a time that you would snort Coke off of a bowie knife and need to bury a hooker in the same night, you were probably with ol' Rattlesnake." Fast hero going on Gunslinger.

The other game is a D20 Future game that I haven't really gotten a handle on. It's sort of low-tech a'la Firefly, but also Space Opera-esque. Our group consists of an aging space trucker, a strange girl who makes everyone think she's a 12-year-old boy (and refers to herself in the third person as "she" or "her")(and is also a sniper), a mob knee-breaker, and me: "Iron Colm" MacDougal, explosives extrordinaire. Crazy sun've'a'gun. Sort of an old Welsh guy, ex-military demolitions expert. Calls people "China" and has three robotic fingers from when he blew up a "firecracker" (dynamite) in his hand. I like to have the other players say to people, "Look, this guy is nuts, we really don't know what he'll do" and actually mean it (within reason). Fast hero going on Smart hero into Soldier.

The modularity of this system is what really makes me love it. If you have a concept for a character, you can do it. What's more, you don't need to look through five books and stretch your suspension of disbelief to do it. Aside from the base classes, skills, feats, advanced classes, and even prestige classes, the starting occupations add another layer of customization to it to help define one more aspect of the character.

If I weren't in the middle of a Saga campaign (with a D&D campaign scheduled to follow after it), I'd totally be doing d20 Modern!
Of all the games I've ever bought and/or played, I love how unabashedly generic it is. It's probably the only RPG system with which you can build believable regular people-type characters, yet flexible enough for heroic action with just a little tweaking, and that's exactly what I want from a modern setting!

I drag mine out every so often for one off games or very short campaigns. Tonight in fact I am starting a Resident Evil/Zombie game... though the players think it is just an action movie style game. Should be fun.
