i was looking for some help from the comunity on my zombie epoch champain cheifly how should i let my pcs find better weapons? what should i set the virus DC at? and should i keep the horde contingency?

the horde contingency: ever time the pcs fire a gun or use a bomb they have a 10% chance of atracting hunreds of zombies from the surrounding area, the dc increases for larger booms to 20%

well id like your imput

Where is your campaign going to take place? Also, what sort of weapons to your PCs already own?

Don't you have the Apocalypse book? It's not set in the Future. Just coz the Apocalypse forum is a sub-forum of Future doesn't make it Future. (Urban Arcana is not necessarily Modern either).

i know tema69 i set up a thread there, i own ever d20 modern book but the mence manual.

And to answer you Dead1ock i personally start with a glock 17 and a remingting 700 though my ammo is quiet liminted. one of my other pcs has a glock 17 and a total of 3 full magazines for it, and the last has a katana yup a katana that's it. he's the crazy one

i wrote the segment to take place in the area where your group gets together for me orlando, which makes it a long ride to area 51 in manhatten.

I'm all for stealth and thinking over shooting anything that moves and blowing up a good chunk of the city (though I'm not above doing that aswell) so I suggest thinking beyond guns and so forth for battling zombies. sure you may be luckly to find one or two guns that a looting mob over looked in a gun shop, or a few rounds here or there. maybe a shotgun or hand gun in someone's house, stuff like that but don't forget things like baseball or cricket bats, iron bars, crow bars, steel reinforcement bars from construction sites (especially small ones that make decient spears) planks of wood, knives, molotov cocktails, home made explosives, potato guns (a home made gun powered by flamable liquid).
think about the surroundings and think of what they can use. is there a sport's shop nearby, does it have any bows or arrows maybe locked away in a back room, how about a shop selling swords and knives, camping stores selling flair guns, climbing gear and ski poles. martial arts shops.
and after all that how about a police station (maybe with a crazed lone officer still manning the desk after all his buddies have been eaten and who will shoot at anyone who he sees.
local milatary bases, milatary convoys that have been ambushed, police cars stuck in traffic jams with a shot gun or service revolver in side.

and if all else fails just have the players make weapons (a craft check with a sutible DC should do) provided materials are available. such as bows made out of tent poles and string, or a section of scafolding turned into a potato gun designed to launch a cricket ball at the zombie head (anyone who's been hit with a cricket ball will know how much it hurts and when launched out of a gun at very high speeds = ouch)
tree branches make effective clubs, as do anything else blunt and heavy make your players think for themselves on how to survive in the game world.

as for the horde rules i say stick with it it'll make the players think twice before wasting ammo on lone zombies when they could just sneak past or take it out by supprise.
