| #1yellowdingoFeb 05, 2010 11:49:32 | Haiti was an utter disaster. The Americans have concluded after weeks, that they cannot repair the Docks by which they need to bring in relief supplies and the Air route is a bottle neck. I figure we are all high IQ types so what one thousand ideas do you think would have made the process simpler? 1000 Suggestions for Better Relief Management 1. Assume the Ports are damaged and unusable untill proven otherwise. 2. Land support vehicles by landing barge on the beaches. 3. Ofload Personnel and Cargo containers using Helicopters (There is a specific helicopter designed to lift cargo containers). Chinooks for Passenger Transport. 4. Dont Let in Journalists and Celebrties ever. 5. Do away with Aid donations in favour of investment in the rebuilding of the State through DISASTER BONDS. The government gets to employ its own people to re-build, and pays back the money after the economy is rebuilt. |

| #4dragomFeb 05, 2010 12:25:39 | 7. Ask a USMC Officer how to get a couple thousand people and few hundred light vehicles on to the ground without first taking a port. It's their job to know. |
| #5MechaPilotFeb 05, 2010 12:50:40 | 8. Don't live where the disasters are. It's like what Sam Kesnnison said to the starving people of Ethiopia: "Live where the food is!", only in reverse. |
| #6Cpt_MichaFeb 05, 2010 12:58:56 | 9. Prosecute insurance companies that refuse to pay up the money they owe the victims, and force them to pay it in one lump sum. 10. Actually do something to rebuild the devastated area 11. Make sure people actually get to live in any temporary housing you have sent for them. Don't leave the damned thing locked up in what was once the family or household's front lawn telling them they have to either wait for it to arrive. And most of all do not stall for no reason what so ever. |
